PLEASE vote Raymond Mcmurrey for US Senate! He lived in College Station and taught in Corpus Christi. He was my Sr Class president at A & M Consolidated HS in College Station.

mcmurreyforussenate.com is his website.

Dont let him (or me) down!

I would also like to request voting for Hillary Clinton for president. its high time we had a woman running the whitehouse.

Besides, a Lewinsky is NOTHING compared to what Bush has done to us!

Please explain? I'm making more money than I ever have before, and I bought a BRAND NEW house that more than doubled in value in three years. And before you start thinking I'm in the oil business, I work for city government in a blue collar job. Yeah, Bush really screwed me over...

racerfink, first off, CONGRATULATIONS! You truly are one of the lucky few that is surviving this recession and it looks like you may come out smelling like a rose when all is said and done. Just don;t refinance your house at a subprime rate

How did you do so well in these trying times? I am amazed.

And no I am not trying to be "sassy". I mean it- your doing good

Trying times? I don't know anyone who's struggling right now. Perhaps I just associate with good company. Stop polluting the boards with political ads.

1984, why do you say we are in a recession?
1984Consol
How long do you want to ignore this user?
hmmm lets see...

gas prices WAAAAYYY up!
the subprime mortgage crisis resulting in MANY MANY foreclosures...
more people declaring bankruptcy. (myself included)
more buiness declaring bankruptcy and refusing to accept their own gift cards (i.e. Sharper Image)
all this resulting in alot less spending by consumers.
If none of this has hit you yet, it soon will. Especially if you drive a SUV. Rumor has it we could see $3.75 to $4 a gallon gas by memorial day
we are in a recession people.

Interesting. Let's see, what is a recession?

1. General downturn of economic activity of the USA, shown by a 2 consecutive quarter decline in the GDP. Well, this isn't it, as the GDP hasn't declined since the 3rd quarter of 2001, and that was only one quarter.

2. A mild decline in stock prices, business activity and employment for two consecutive quarters (six months). Certainly this doesn't apply, as our country's unemployment rate has steadily DECLINED over the past 3 years. We are in the middle of a stock market correction, and many people do confuse that with a recession, but it really isn't.

If you have another "definition" of recession, I will be happy to defend my opinion that we are not in a recession, but rather in a time where we are seeing the results of poor personal decision making by people who took out mortgages that had no business doing so and are in debt up to their eyebrows. Yes, inflation is up and the dollar is weak, but again, that doesn't mean we are in a recession. Energy prices are increased, but that is because of the weak dollar more than anything else.

I'm sorry about your bankruptcy, but realize that many out here are doing better today than last year, 5 years ago or even 10 years ago.

Don't believe all the hype from the Democratic machine. They have perfected the art of class warfare, whether it be economic, racial or age/sex related.

Not to be rude, but maybe you (and others) should have thought about the things you purchased and what you were going to use to pay those debts. Is it our fault that mortgage decisions were made...which were bad? By the way, I purchased my home in 2002 and am not getting foreclosed on.

Accept responsibility for your actions. Do something (other than foreclosure) about your situation...or you'll find yourself there again in 7 to 10 years.

I've done very well too over the last 8 years and am not in the oil business either. Oh yeah...I forgot to mention that I drive one of those "nasty, big ol gas guzzlin' F-250 diesel pickups." The fuel prices don't bother me nearly as much as the enormous amount of taxes I pay every year!!!!! I don't need any more change taken out of my pockets from Hillary's programs.

No way to Hillary.

Some people wouldn't be happy if you hung them with a new rope.
I'm doing fine, too, and I drive a 4X4 pickup. Call me callous and old fashoned, but if you make the bed, you get to lie in it.

salty and others, I am getting rid of debt I have been carrying since 1995- not much of it is new debt. I incurred most of that debt when I was living on my own in waco. Another 28 thousand is a student loan for college I was forced to take out from 1985 to 1989. My dad INSISTED I go to college right after high school or he was going to kick me out of the house. I wanted to save up more money to go to college but He wanted me to go to school fulltime so working was pretty much out of the question because I needed to study. I took the loan out because he PROMISED me that I would get a great job right out of college and could pay it all back very quickly and like a dummy, I beleived him. I graduated in 1989 with a 9 thousand dollar student loan. I have been paying on it little by little over the years but that 9 thousand dollar loan has ballooned to over 25 thousand dollars including interest. My dad still doesnt think my taking out the loan was a bad thing, but he refuses to help me pay it back. So I had to declare bankruptcy to get rid of my credit card debt so I can concentrate on this stupid student loan because I dont make enough money each month to pay all my bills. I only make $1,000 a month at the hotel, which ironically is more than I was making fulltime at the TV station in Waco (I got my degree in Radio/TV and got my first job right after college so I thought he was right- I got fired from my first job 7 weeks after I got hired)

Now arent you sorry you wanted to know about my debts

Sorry to keep piling it on but maybe you should quit blaming others for your problems and start doing something about it.

Your story is B.S. Anyone...and I mean anyone...could pay back $9K in that amount of time. Take a second job...and pay the money back. Going bankrupt over that amount is foolish.

Quit blaming your Dad, the loan, school, etc. It's not your Dad's debt...or his responsibility to pay the debt for you!

By the way...I worked AND went to school. I also have 3 very good and close friends who had 40 hour a week jobs at A&M and still graduated...one took 7 years...but he graduated.

My Dad had 4 kids and a full time job...and made a 3.75 with a Chemistry degree. Never did he think about quitting...or going bankrupt.

Lastly...voting for Hillary isn't going to "save" you. You're foolish. She doesn't give a rat's ass about you...or anyone else below the "elite" level. She just needs your vote.

Salty-
sorry to keep piling it on? Judging from your tirade, i think you rather enjoyed it.

If you had thoroughly read about my loan, you would have noticed I said it is no longer 9 thousand, it is over 25 thousand. Since it is a student loan, my lawyer said it cannot be forgiven in bankruptcy.

Why isnt my Dad to blame? I was 18 years old and didn't know anything about loans except what my dad told me. How can you expect me NOT to blame him since that is all I had to go on at the time?

I NEVER said or even meant to imply that Hillary would "save " me. What kind of delussional thinking is that?

For your information, Hillary carried Texas and Ohio.

Well, I'll just say that owning the newest, latest, and greatest gizmo is not my thing. Some people that make less money than me are running around with i-phones just because they think people will think more highly of them. I've also met people that wear $140 jeans, but beg me for a few bucks till pay-day so they can eat. It's all about priorities...

1984,

I didn't mean for you to come back over here to get pounded. Sorry. I just wanted some discussion on the reasoning behind your saying we are in a recession. That is all.

What say you?

well it just seems like the economy is slowing down- everyone is spending less, bankruptcies are up. gas prices are sky high and rising even mire from what I have heard. This is a great time to buy a house because prices are lower but I cant afford one.

If you are doing so great how about sending me some money? LOL just kidding

Trust me, I was typing with calm fingers. My words are merely suggestions. From your posting, it seems you were blaming others...and relying on others to bail you out.

My point is...you will have to do it yourself. Guaranteed.

People are spending less because they're finding out all that credit that was extended to them the last few years actually has to be paid back! It used to be that people would just file bankruptcy, and all would be swept under the rug. Now, with new laws in place, it's not so easy to do that.

A very simple rule of thumb is, DON'T SPEND WHAT YOU CAN'T PAY BACK!

from what I can tell, going through bankruptcy myself, is the only change is that two hour course you have to take to get the bankruptcy discharged.
