A prominent businessman, entrepreneur and civic leader who co-founded a number of successful companies and served on the boards of a bank, hospital, and other organizations, has died.

Todd Christopher was 57. Broussard's Mortuary says he died Sunday.

Christopher was the youngest son of Virginia and Rolfe Christopher, who served on the Jefferson County Commissioners Court.

Todd Christopher was the president of his senior class at South Park High School in 1969, where he was co-captain of the football team.

He was co-captain of the Texas Aggies football team in 1972. Christopher graduated from A & M in 1973 and went on to co-found a number of businesses, including Taylor Surgical, Taylor Medical, Home Care Supply and Crown Team Texas.

He served on the boards of Hibernia Bank, Baptist Hospital, Monsignor Kelly High School, Lamar University Foundation, Lamar University School of Business, co-chairman of the Julie and Ben Rogers Cancer Foundation Drive and many others.

He is survived by his wife, Gerri; three sons, Clayton, Zachary and Grant; daughter, Rachel; mother, Virginia; and brother, Gary and wife Cheryl.

He was preceded in death by his father, Rolfe; and brother, Craig.

A gathering of his family and friends will begin at 6:15 p.m. with a Christian Vigil at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2008 St. Anne Catholic Church under the direction Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont. A private committal service will follow at Broussard's Crematorium.
