My friends and I are spending the night in Crockett, TX this Friday, and we have a half-marathon race in Groveton the next early morning.

We don't plan on drinking, but I just wanted to ask if there is anything remotely fun in Crockett area (or within 15 minutes of it) that we could do for fun the night before besides drinking? Even geeky stuff or movie theaters interest us.

Also, we will drive back to Houston in the early afternoon from Groveton. Any place or attraction that is worth seeing or eating on the way back?

Mission Tejas State Park is very close by. Eat at Tchoupitoulas Steak House just off the courthouse square. Great food and atmosphere! We drive from Palestine to eat there often.

I heard rumor that there may be a putt putt place in Crockett. is that true?

Be sure to drink out of that spring Davy Crockett drank out of. It is on main highway near a gas station, if I remember correctly--it has been years.........
