Betcha there's NO-ONE old enough on this board to ever hear of an early morning Lufkin radio program called "Hamp & Eggs."

Fairly popular among "early-bird rising" farm & ranch folks in Angelina County.

Yep, probably before my time.

I do remember watching a ton of Horace McQueen's Farm and Ranch News on channel 9 when I was growing up.

Program was somewhat popular 1955-1975.

Perhaps there some E. Tx. old folks out there somewhere ?

Well, perhaps not !

Surely someone out there has heard of Lufkin's Murphy Martin and KTRE (later Murphy was famed Dallas radio and TV personality).
Just shy of 83, Murphy died in 2008 (nice obit in Lufkin paper July 5, 2008).
Inducted into the Texas Radio Hall of Fame in 2006.
WFAA was his beat.
Also, stadium voice for the Dallas Cowboys for 20+ years.
Wrote a pretty good book titled "Front Row Seat" concerning his broadcast career.
Also, much noted for his two year hitch (1970-72) as head of "United We Stand" which was H.Ross Perot's funded organization in lobbying for the return of our USA Viet-Nam POW's.

Murphy and "Hamp & Eggs" were once very big bud's at Lufkin's KTRE.
