I know that area well. You're screwed.

Grew up in Mt. Pleasant but drove all over that county growing up.

What the previous poster said pretty much sums it up.

I have a friend that teaches at Queen City.

QC is pretty boring so she lives in Texarkana and commutes, but she really loves the school.

i am originally from nacogdoches, so i know all about those funky smells coming from the boonies.

and, one set of my grandparents are from Hughes Springs and the other from Linden. I spent half my childhood here. but, actually living here is a little different than what i am used to.

i was just seeing if any other Ags had any suggestions about things to do, etc.

I've been working in Nacogdoches since I graduated in May. This college town blows compared to CS.

just found an outstanding Italian restaurant in Linden that I had no idea existed.

it is in a purple house a block east of downtown on hgwy 11. it is across from the old methodist church. the cook/owner/do everything guy and his wife just moved from italy 3 years ago. he makes everything from scratch and the prices are reasonable.

i must warn you that it is a truly "european" experience. by that i mean that it is an event. plan on being at the restaurant for at least an hour and nothing happens quick. it is byob and the menu is just a guideline. he told me that he would just cook me some food when i went to order.

that being said, it is well worth it. and make sure you get the cook to play a tune on his harmonica. you will not regret it.

I'm from Atlanta, though I have lived in Houston since leaving college. I have many many friends still in the area (and several Aggies, at that). What brought you to those parts, out of curiosity? Also, I was unaware of the Italian place-- will have to look into that when I'm home next time.

I'm from Atlanta, and it's not a terrible place to live, if you don't mind small-town politics and everything that comes with it. Texarkana is close, and there's plenty to do up there. If you play golf, make sure to check out the Texarkana Golf Ranch - well worth the greens fee, when it's in good condition.
