What part of SoCal?

Anywhere in South Tyler and you are golden really. If you go further east you might look into the Woods but then you might be in Chapel Hill district so you dont want that unless you want to do Private schools for as long as your kids go to school.

If you dont mind driving and you dont want to live in Tyler I would recommend Lindale or Whitehouse as possible places to live.

As far as schools, south Tyler has the best elementary school in Jack but the middle school is Hubbard (until the new bond is passed) and that place sucks unless you are part of the right crowd in Tyler.

I would put my kid at Moore Middle school which still feeds into Robert E. Lee. The for elementary school, I'd go with Bell that just built a brand new facility across for Tyler Junior College.

Those two school districts aren't where the rich and snobs live so you're with some down home people, but everyone goes to Robert E. Lee anyways for High School.

The private schools are completely different beasts here. They aren't like private schools in Dallas or Houston. They are for people who like to shelter their kids from the real world(Grace) or they have so much money they don't know what to do with it (All Saints)

If you have any more questions, wait for Ultra to get on here. He knows a little bit about the male sports in town.

Jack is a brand new elementary school, and from what I heard is pretty good. Before it was built, Rice and Andy Woods were considered the best two elementary schools in town (I'm not saying they still aren't the best two, I just don't know a ton about Jack.)

We moved to Tyler two years ago, and bought a house in the Green Acres area. We also looked at the Azelea district, but they are in a terrible school district. We really enjoy the area we are in.

Send me an e-mail if you need any more help. Like I said, we just moved here two years ago.

I live in the tanglewood area which is near the green acres area, and grew up in high school living in the green acres area. Ice also grew up here and lives here so we can all answer any more questions you have.

I only know about bars and strip clubs, so I can not help you out with your kid problem.

Brookhill is a good school from what i heard you might want to ask Terlingua about that. He posts around here you might PM him and ask him about it. His daughter used to go there until her jr year then transfered to Whitehouse.

69 or right by the cascades really is real nice. What kinda price range are you looking for? there are some places inside the loop that are nice also. I guess it just really depends on the type of people you want living around you.

Here is some info

http://www.cascadesoftexas.com/real_estate_lotpricing.shtml

We are doing some work on a future resort area north of Bellwood and also doing a Victoria Gardens type like in Rancho Cucamunga in that area. Like i said that area is going to blow up so i would check it out.

Cascades is close to All saints as well. you see the pic above with the football field on the right? Thats All Saints. The problem that I have found out with Privates schools is that its a small group of kids and you find out that EVERYONE knows each other. All their parents are in some sort of committee or are a head of something so you have to hob nob with the bunches.

Anyways here are some links to the private schools.

For what its worth I moved from Cali when I was 12 and went to school at Moore Middle School and Robert E Lee High School. My younger brother and sister went to Clarkston. My sister is currently attending Moore and she likes it and hasnt had any problems.

I have an 8 and 6 yr old that go to Jack and we have been very happy with it. We started at Rice and would not recommend it. The Cascades are very nice and I have financed a number of homes out there, but the majority of the residents are over 50 empty nesters. Hollytree would be a better fit with kids.

For your price range, look into Saddlebrook or Baker Plantation.

Frisco, I grew up in Tyler and spent most of my life here. I have lived in just about all of the South Tyler areas mentioned, but just last year moved to Bullard. It's down Hwy. 69 about 10 miles from the growth area of Tyler. I wanted to get my kids into a smaller school district without putting them into private schools.

We really like our neighborhood (Pecan Valley) and there are several nice houses for sale here. If you want to build, the whole Bullard area is booming with new subdivisions and lots of custom houses going up.

By the way, I'm also in insurance. Welcome to the neighborhood!
