Have an older friend coming into town and would like to go somewhere we can hear each other talking. Does anyone have any suggestions? The type of food probably doesn't matter, but does need to be good. Thanks.

House Wine is quiet for lunch. At night they have an acoustic guitar player.
Republic of the Rio Grande is fairly quiet away from the bar, also has outside seating.

Food was good but waaaaaaaaaaaaay too expensive. $200 for 3 glasses of wine, appetizer, one caesar salad, one steak and stuffed chicken dish.

Yeah the Patio is the best if you want to bump your gums. What are yall gonna be discussing?
Spork over by moonbeans might be a good option as well. We've done brunch there twice and the food has been nails. Their dinner menu looks great as well.

Just ate lunch there for the first time in years and their Mexican buffet was very good. The atmosphere is excellent and it is probably perfect for a quiet, relaxing meal.

Hit Sporks last night. Pretty good. Different selections than any place in McAllen.
Looked around the room and everybody seemed happy with what they ordered. Lots of plate sharing
No hard liquor. Limited wine. A few beers and they will uncork your own wine. Liquor license coming in a few weeks

Tried Spork the week it opened. I froze balls there. Hop Tung has great Pho, perfect for chilly weather. I do the steak pho.
