Does anyone have any recommendations for who to use for Deep Sea Fishing at SPI?

Ive heard of Capt'n Murphys and also Osprey..

You want a head boat or a private charter?

For a head boat go with the Murphy's.

For a private charter try to get in touch with Bryan Ray at Master Plan charters. He got rid of his big boat and was doing bay trips but I recently heard that he had bought a smaller offshore boat. Hes been at it 30 years or more.

I think John only does diving trips out of SPI - not fishing.. could be wrong though.

I got scuba certified through him - great guy and I highly recommend him if you want to scuba dive!

John also does fishing, he and another fishing captain bought a 35' Henriques last year and they probably fish it 2 to 1 than dive it. On the fishing charters his partner usually runs the boat, he is a good Capt'n, and John can catch a fish or two also.

John also uses another boat to do diving when the other one is fishing. He is a good dude. I got him into diving, LOL.

does anyone know of a guide, etc that could accommodate a trip for 6 people? we want to do deep sea, but any type of fishing trip would work.

Eugene, sure. Just tell them that Ike recommended them. Same goes for Todd Lowry. But they may charge you more, LOL.

Honestly, if Bryan is doing offshore trips in his new boat that would be the way to go, he is a great fisherman and good friend. John and Steve who have the boat together are also very good. Steve who usually runs the boat, ran a private boat this last weekend and tagged a Blue Marlin and caught several other fish.

Todd Lowry is also a fish catching fool.

Eugene, you should be able to reach Todd by looking him up in the phone book. The name of his boat is Reel Madness, it is a 38' Delta. He works out of what used to be or still might be the Hospitality Docks it is on your right, just after you start to go over the bridge, or should I say make the last possible right in Port Isabel, on Garcia St.

Also, Bryan Ray sold the name and boat to Master Plan charters, he is now on his own. Do a google search for him and SPI fishing and he will come up, I can't for the life of me remember his home phone number. He has a web page and you can read about him on 2coolfishing also.
