I recommend that you stay away from the oil business. (Unless you like lots of money and short work days.)

Short work days? Interned for an independent last year and will go full time with them in August. 16-30 hour days aren't short.

Without a degree in Geology, Geophysics, or Petroleum Engineering, Oilfield Service is your best bet. I'd start calling around. Many service companies have offices in Corpus, Laredo, Alice, Victoria, and others. A phonebook and some time would get you a long ways.

Oh do you have a Class A CDL? That helps too (though not required).

Just stay away from Mud-Logging
