I saw them in alpine a couple of times growing up. But that's a little different.

Years ago I heard talk of a bear sighting near Carta Valley and another somewhere south of Ozona, but never seen one in person. I'd like for black bear to make a comeback in West Texas.

I've seen several. Saw six in BBNP in June of '21.

Early 1980s a friend of mine shot and killed a bear north of Big Lake in Reagan County.
Another bear was seen in Reagan County earlier this year.
