My wife and I will be traveling with our 3 young girls for Spring Break this year. We will be driving back from Carlsbad, NM to Dallas, TX and were wondering if anyone had any recommendations for must-do activities and/or food during our drive.

Any and all recommendations would be recommended.

I also posted in the Travel Board.

Thanks in advance!

As someone that has to go to Carlsbad for work but also understand the historical draw of Carlsbad Caverns, my biggest recommendation is stay out near the caverns or White's City. Traffic around Carlsbad all the way down to Fort Stockton can not be over stated. Eastbound to Andrews is pretty heavy as well.

Thank you for the information.

Unfortunately we do not have a camper or RV, and the motel in White City is booked so we will be staying in Carlsbad. Looks like we will have to plan accordingly when driving to Carlsbad Caverns and Guadalupe Mountains.

I'm not the Vagabond owner, but I highly recommend it! Frontier Texas is a good experience too. It doesn't take too longan hour or so. Both it and Vagabond are downtown.

Not the owner, just a big fan of Jason and Jessica - and my son works there

but also for full disclosure.. I was on the board of directors and Treasurer for Frontier Texas when it was originally conceived and built back in early 2000 or so

On your way to Abilene you might want to try the Odessa Meteor crater on I-20

Petroleum Museum in Midland also on I-20
https://petroleummuseum.org/

Museum for the Ghost town of Thurber, TX on I-20 (Between Abilene and Weatherford)

I'm doing all I can to keep your son employed! Jason and Jessica are good people, and put out a great product.

Good job on Frontier Texas. It's really well done.

My kids liked the Living Desert Zoo in Carlsbad.

We made a couple of Spring Break day trips over there when we lived in Midland just for it.

Thanks for recs. Vagabond was delicious. I told my wife that I like it more than any pizza place we have in Dallas.
