Don't have a measurement, but it rained heavily for 30 minutes on 6/18/2014 after a complete brownout Midlandistan dust storm.

Midlandistan ... looking East across TX158 from the Deauville road exit.

I would guess well over an inch in the Crestgate neighborhood. At least I got some free water for my grass.

My rain gauge showed 2.5 inches this morning.

Wow, 2.5" is awesome.
I probably got that much considering how long it rained and how hard it was coming down. I only knew that I had to have over 1".
I would have guessed Greentree (further north) must have really gotten some rain considering north loop 250 was at the bottom of that rain cloud.

Did anyone hear if this awesome rain cloud made it to any CRMWD lakes?

For those new to Midlandistan, this is the typical way we get rain ... wind storm, dust storm, thunder storm then rain. You may get 3" and your neighbor across the street gets nothing.

Welcome to Midland, where is rains just enough to make the dust stick.

No impact on the lakes as of yet. It will take a couple days for the stuff in and around Midland to make it down stream.

Thought of the name after driving to visit the inlaws when they were in Lubbock. When we were returning the sand was blowing across the road and filling the air "Brownout" and it reminded me of scenes from Iraq and Afghanistan war footage.

It looks like the rains in midland just wetted the draws between here and spence. No significant impact on Spence is to be expected.

The "official" measurement was something like 1.8", but everyone I know with a rain gauge has said around 2.5".
Bring some more.

Did anyone else hear that thunderstorm last night?

Jebus.

Lightning was all over the place. One big bolt hit very near my house, reset the power temporarily and set off several car alarms with the thunder.

It was a good one. Was really worried it wouldn't hit Midessa at all. Glad it did.

It drove my dogs nuts which in turn kept me up for a good chunk of the night, but it's nice to get rain.

Nothing that hit us today will make it 5 miles out of the city.

Rain looks to stay far, far away from Midland for the next week at least. Summer is finally here
