Hot, home of Roy Orbison, Wink Wildcats. Close as I got to Wink was working in Kermit. There are a lot of nice folks in that area.

VERY small town. Oil, ranching, farming (I think). You'll probably need a trailer to live in and a satellite dish for entertainment. If you like small towns, you'll love it.

not quite as small as Mentone.

About as much excitement as a monestary full of monks in meditation.

In all, it's a good town.

Haven't been there since High School, hated the drive out there for games, meets, etc.

It is a nice town, but be prepared to drive a long way to get to a Walmart, or any major shopping for that matter...

I grew up in Kermit, 8 miles away. It just depends on what you're looking for. It is definitely a small town. Good folks.

Decent schools for a small town, if that makes a difference. They used to be good in football, but they're mediocre these days in class 1A. The volleyball team made it to state this year, lost in state semi-finals. They used to have a reputation as one of the top TAKS/state testing performers, and are still I think a recognized district.

The people are salt-of-the-earth oilfield folks, but unfortunately, the entertainment scene is your satellite dish, Internet/Netflix connection, and video game system. It's about 40 miles to Odessa for the nearest mall or Wal-Mart. Shopping consists of a little grocery store and a couple of convenience stores. Ten miles away in Kermit, there's Family Dollar and a Pizza Hut. Twenty miles away in Monahans, there's a few more restaurants and stores.

If you want small-town life without many distractions, it seems like the perfect place.

Just to be clear, there is a Pizza Hut, Dairy Queen, Sonic, Huddle House, Family Dollar, Dollar General, Alco AND several local restaurants (world famous El Joeys) in Kermit.
