Welcome. Get involved with the local Aggie club and the Aggie Bar Assoc (if you are in law school). Come to the game watching parties. Let us know how we can make you feel more welcome.

BTW, I didn't mean to rain on your parade.... my comment was strictly a friendly jest from someome who grew up in the shadow of Amarillo.

Amarillo has no shadows!

Where did you grow up?
Boozoo

Hey that Santa Fe building has a shadow.

I was in Hereford up until I packed my bags for College Station.

I grew up in Hart (shadows only from the grain elevators). We farmed west of Hereford in the late 70's.

Was in Hart yesterday, on my way from Edmonson to Dimmit.

I go back once a year for the pheasant hunt. That is enough. After living in the woods North of Houston, I really do not think I could go back home.

Though oddly enough, I had a great time growing up there.

Did you know Hart went to Six Man football last week?

We played against them in 2A less than a decade ago.

It is going to be interesting to see what happens to a lot of the small schools around the Panhandle..Happy, Claude, Groom, others. Will they dissolve into other districts? Other places like Wildorado are actually recruiting students from other districts to come to school there.

Wow, I had not heard that Hart went to 6-man. I knew that Naz could go for the last several years, but chose to stay in 11-man.

I was living in Childress, which was prosperous, but I could see all the little towns around it drying up. That is why I finally had to leave the Panhandle.

And when the last of the water on the Plains dries up . . . . well, it will be over at that point.

Just think, all the money raised by selling our groundwater goes to build up the ok state football stadium.

Wow! Thanks for the welcome! I got here about 2 weeks ago and hit the ground running! I dont' think I've sat down to watch TV for more than an hour since I moved in (and thats sayin something since I didn't know A SOUL when I got here!)

I'm definitely getting involved with the Aggie Bar (Yes I am in law school) and I'd like to get involved with the A&M Club, but I don't konw how much time I'll have this semester/year.

I'm in section 4 and I have Shoen, Olson, Casto, and Welch (LP).

BTW - What are some good methodist churches in the area? I'd like one with a fair amount of students/adults my age (22+) and a good mix of traditional and contemporary worship. I'm open to other denominations too.

So far, Lubbock is great! The people go out of their way to be nice and friendly, easy to get around...but I don't know what yall are talking about sayin "lubbock has NO humidity..." Its been raining since I got here!!!

Back to contracts and LP.

The folks at Lakeridge Methodist Church are fine people and they seem to have a good cross section of people.

Interesting you bring that up, raider aficionado. When my mom went to undergrad at Tech and taught school for a few years after, she said Lakeridge UMC was a great place to go. I had no idea if it still is, or it has become caught up in some of the new age ideas of Methodism like so many other UMC churches around the country have. I'm a Methodist by raising, from an old-school staunchly conservative Methodist church in West Texas, and I'd like to find one of a similar nature here. Plus, I live 5 minutes from Lakeridge UMC.

Not to hijack the thread into a religious discussion, but I'd appreciate yours and other thoughts on the issue.

Hijack welcomed!

I was also thinking about going to Lakeridge this sunday and seeing if they had some sort of a "sunday school" type class in the mornings for my age group.

Sorry to Hi-jack the the thread about old home week.

I had Schoen and knew Castro. Both good prof's. The other two were not there. That was a long time ago.

Take it seriously. But don't stress too much about the studying. It is counter productive.

The people in Lubbock are great. I really liked living there. And the undergrad's are not too bad to take when in their own element. It is when they go to another stadium or host the Aggies that they get unruly.

I went to the First United downtown when I was there. It was very traditional then. But one of the biggest in the state. (many years ago!)

You should go at least once. It is one of the most beautiful Methodist Churches in the state.

The rain will end soon. And will not return for months. And the wind will start. And will not end for months.

We had a 6 inch snow in October of my 1st year. It was pretty cool. My South Texas wife had never seen a snow before. She had also never seen it rain mud before either. That will happen soon to you also.

Enjoy it. Law School was one of the best times of my life.

I was in Section 4. I didn't have Welch for LP, but I had everybody else.

My mom and sister go to Lakeridge and she loves it. I have been with her when I come to visit and it has a good mix.

Suzy--

Time for a Law School update. How is it going?

Though I know that you really do not have time to cruise texags nor time to post!!
SuzyQ06
How long do you want to ignore this user?
haha...I find my way here more than I should thats for sure!

So far so good. I've been keeping ahead on the reading. I didn't read at all this weekend, but that was a strategic choice. I started and finished my closed memo for LP. It sucks...bad. But the draft is due this wednesday and the sooner I turn it, the better comments I get. HOpefully I own't have to completely rewrite it, but I suspect I will.

I've actually had a hard time being away from Aggieland on gamedays. I'm suprised how much I miss it! I'm going back for the Tech game (WHOOP!) so I'm just trying to stay ahead so that I won't fall miserably behind. Hopefully the game-watching parties will help whenever they FINALLY decide to air the Aggie game.

I think the brunt of law school is finally setting in now that LP is off and kicking.
Killer-K 89
How long do you want to ignore this user?
The La. Tech game is probably the only game from now on that will not be on TV somewhere.

Though we may not get one of the October (BU, KU, Mizzou) on TV.

The problem with Lubbock is that the Fox channel sometimes opts for "infomercials" instead of UT or Aggie games.

I'm not understanding the blank posts...but whatever.

The research path SUCKS! I FREAKIN HATE IT! I think I stood in the law library for 2 hours just blinking...ugh.

After fifteen years, I can only remember the good things about Law School.

Stick to it, believe me it gets much easier as you go along.

We go to First UMC downtown. There are two traditional service - 8:30 and 11:00, and a contemporary service at 9:45. It's still one of the biggest, and definitely the most beautiful, in the state.
