Howdy. Will be in Lubbock Saturday May 20, and am looking for a place to take the family after the 1:30 commencement

I know everything will be packed. Tried to make reservations at Abuelo's but they do not take reservations

Looking for casual dining. Not upscale, but not grungy. Something about the speed of Abuelo's, or even up or down a click in terms of casualness or formality

All recommendations are greatly appreciated

Are you in the mood for Mexican?

La Diosa - spanish/mediterranean
901 17th St
Cantina Laredo - more of a spanish twist
114 W Loop 289

Another is Italian Garden (awesome Italian food)
1215 AVE J

Most places in Lubbock are pretty low key so its a very casual restaurant vibe plus I prefer to support more local spots rather than chain restaurants.

Is La Diosa more than just tapas? We've been away from Lubbock for a few years, but back then they did not.

Albarrans isn't too bad. The Plaza is also close and pretty good. Autlan and taquiera jaliscos are good choices as well. They might not be as busy
