How long do you want to ignore this user?
Anyone know the recipe for their beef fajita marinade? I have been searching on the net... best I saw was someone from hornfans posted a recipe, but I am reluctant to trust a sip. I heard a waiter tell some other group the recipe once but couldn't chase him down again to give me the secret.

Anyone know?

i wish i knew. i think it's more than just marinade... i think they cook down a sauce in the skillet they serve the beef in and roll the beef in that to give it that extra tequila lime taste.

a ****load of lime and nothing else. the most overrated thing in houston is lupe tortilla besides the aquarium and torso girl

try this

Chicken Fajita Marinade
> > 1 cup Wishbone Italian dressing (other brands not as good)

I have also heard it's nothing but lime juice. That was back when the Hwy 6 and Hwy 59 locations where the only ones. I knew someone that asked someone in the kitchen. I don't know how they do it with just lime juice, but that stuff is out of control.

different restaurant but someone told me years ago the Cafe Adobe fajita marinade recipe and it was simply soy sauce, Molasses and lime juice. Don't recall the ratios though

For reference... this is the one from whornfans after it finally loaded.

4 cups light soy sauce
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon each of garlic powder, onion powder and ginger
juice of 4 limes

looks like high blood pressure on skirt steak. Maybe I'll just try plain lime juice and the spices. I dunno... when it comes down to it it's pretty hard to screw up fajitas.

4 cups of soy sauce is a lot for 1lb. Probably good for 5 lbs.

Beef recipie is what you want.

They look like they griddle fry the meat.

during my recipe research I saw the comment that lupe's mgmt. has done a poor job of expanding. I have to agree... the ones up north of the beltway don't hold a candle to the one I used to go to at I-10 and hwy 6

The quality at the satellite locations is definitely not on par with the I-10/HWY 6 location.

Fortunately I live by the Hwy 6 location, and their fajitas are phenomenal, best in town.

Trying my homemade fajitas with homemade tortillas (HEB's fajita machine is broken) right now.

I think the soy sauce was close, but maybe next time I think I need some molasses or something. I ran out of soy sauce so I improvised and added a bottle of Dos Equis. Es Preety Good.

Lupe on 59 rocks for many reasons:

1. The fajitas are good.
2. The torillas are awesome. Especially when you have some left over and put butter and honey on one for breakfast. slobber.
3. I can drink a margarita on the bleachers while miniTAT gets sand in his crevices and macks on West U. girlies on the playground.

the two ingredients i know for sure are the lime juice and soy sauce. they may add a couple other small things...but these two will get you close enough.
