I haven't decided yet. It does seem to get a bit of the Alief crowd.

very ghetto. memorial city and west oaks have reversed in terms of unsavory crowds and crappy stores.

Somewhat ghetto... although it isn't so ghetto that I wouldn't go there if I needed something in a mall (i.e. greenspoint or sharpstown malls).

It's the only nearby option for some nice neighborhoods in the area.

It's close and has a decent Dillards and Macy's to run in and pick up something. One day though, I went in there and Gap and Baby Gap were just gone. It is still hanging on to the Limited, which I frequent, as First Colony doesn't have one. There is also a good flavored popcorn place down by the kids' playground tree thing. Otherwise, it has gone down hill slowly with the closing of JC Penney, Gap, Franklin Covey, Kirklands, etc. They do still have a Sears though for the yard and house type stuff, and First Colony/Sugar Land does not.

There is a Sears home/yard/tool center not far away from First Colony mall...maybe 2 miles south on 6 by Dulles/Austin Pkwy. Kinda prefer it there, as I hate going to a busy mall complex to pick up a tool/lawnmower part or whatever.

My wife is very annoyed there is no Limited in First Colony Mall, though.

West Oaks Mall has a store named

Tha' Closet

I think that speaks for itself.

If it weren't the location and Alamo Drafthouse, I wouldn't go there.

Not that bad. It was getting pretty bad for a while, but then they remodeled it a few years back. Like others have said, its not anywhere near as bad as Sharpstown, but its as nice as say 1sy Colony or Memorial City.

It's ghetto now. 10 years ago it was a decent place. As a previous post said, it and Memorial City switched places about 5 yrs back. I've lived in that area all my life, and before the remodeling/subsequent additions to Memorial City it was approaching the Town and Country standards of ghost-like emptiness now taken over by West Oaks.

Town and Country was creepy. I get an eerie feeling just thinking about that mall.

I hit up Alamo Drafthouse once every couple months. If that place closed I don't see any reason anyone would go there unless they wanted to pick up the latest in urban wear.

Not that there is anything wrong with that./Seinfeld

I make the longer drive to the Drafthouse on Mason simply to avoid West Oaks.

I grew up going to WO Mall. I remember it being built. I went back the other day for the first time in 20+ years and saw the decline for myself. Pretty sad...

Any one remember Fame City?

Frisco I went to HS in Alief some 15 or so years ago and WO Mall is better than what it used to be. Also we lived at Fame City during the summer, and actually had ProGrad there when I graduated.

the secret to the lazy river (and the wave pool) was to NEVER let any of the water get in your mouth. it was always quite salty for some reason.

I was a lifeguard at Fame City the first summer it opened.

I don't know if they purposely hired only slooty chicks to work there - but it was a good summer.

edit for sloot.

Good memories of Fame City. Ok, now who remembers cruising Westheimer? Man I miss the glorious 80's.

Yep, we were up and down Westheimer, hanging out, at the time, Two Pesos, now Taco Cabana right there at Westheimer and Wilcrest.

Gone are the days of hanging out in parking lots along Westheimer...my wife and I were talking about that just the other day. How come there isn't anymore of that?

The police run off kids now, it is just not the same. When we used to "hangout" at a parking lot there would be around 100 people hanging around. Of course there were fights, etc. but it was a place to hangout.
