Folks, if you you've never had the joy of time at LBJ…it is an experience. ER for 6 hours 2 weeks ago. Feels like every other people through the ambulance door was in cuffs. Lots of police roaming about.

Being an insured person was like being a king.

Surgery yesterday. Same basic idea. Most people on the floor needing an interpreter for anesthesia. But again, insurance means getting all the good drugs and treatment.

Horrendously managed though, as it's county after all.

Why did you have surgery there? I'd only go there for a stabbing or gunshot.

Ambulance didn't give me an option. Broke and dislocated ankle and needed quick treatment. Was in 5W.

Surgeons are UT Health ortho so had no issue with that, and didn't want to go to the hassle of getting on my normal Methodist schedule.

DOH! HA! I don't remember anyone abbreviating like that before, though I'm sure it has been.

It's been a really long year at work, and the last two weeks especially busy. I'm tired and functioning below my usual ****** level.

i've heard the softball league at that park (maybe it's the Sunday league?) is supposedly the longest active west of the Mississippi.

And Irvington Park is not really 5th Ward, more like Nawfside.

You don't get much transport options with HFD in this kind of situation, unfortunately. Depends on his location and distance to the hospitals.

I broke my leg playing kickball at the sports complex at 90 and Chimney Rock, and I got the choice of MH Sugar Land or MH Med Center. NFW I would have wanted to be anywhere other than the Med Center for what I went through.

I also remember telling them that I have good insurance, so we're not going to Ben Taub.

Yikes, that sux. Yea, you're in the middle of both locations. I would prefer med center as MH Sugar Land isn't a trauma center. Not that they couldn't help you with a broken leg or not.

Doing extra jobs at Ben Taub or LBJ is chef's kiss. Getting paid to enjoy the s*** show of those two hospitals, I feel bad just a little for taking the money. Always a naked guy trying to escape, some illegal trying to steal meds, black family being all extra cause Jaqwan got himself shot. And that's just in the first hour of the shift.
Can't decide if I want to be cute & cuddly, or go blow some sh*t up.
Decisions decisions.

I had a tibial plateau fracture with compartment syndrome that required fasciotomies with skin grafts and two surgeries to stabilize the fracture. That wasn't happening in Sugar Land.
