I am more concerned about the city attorney. Why did she intervene on his behalf? Or did she? Of course, the "report" they put together on it was written by...wait for it...the city attorney herself (way to do an independent investigation there LC). The timeline provided seems to suggest she determined the info requested was not releasable prior to Hicks contacting her but the report is so watered down it is difficult to say for sure.

Then the mayor goes and says he got no extra benefit that any other city resident wouldn't receive. Yeah, right.

Police have been busy there lately with the now former HPD captain this week.

This seems like more of a South Houston story than a League City story.

It got all kinds of fun in the last few days. He (Justin Hicks) asked the Police Chief for their records on his domestic disturbances and also told him that his wife would make false claims about him so he should not respond to her complaints and leave their personal matters alone. Police chief told him he needed to file a records request for this since he was an involved party and then emailed the city manager about what he felt were inappropriate requests from Councilman Hicks. That email got read by another councilman out loud in open session Tuesday who then called for Hicks' resignation. Not to be outdone Hicks gave an interview yesterday calling the police chief a liar and saying the other councilman was just dealing with sour grapes because he won. Also refuses to resign and there's pretty much nothing they can do about that unless he gets convicted of a crime.

I've known the chief for close to 40 years since we were in middle school. He is not to be f'ed with.

Hicks has also been associated with the firings of the city librarian who resisted the idea of a book review committee and the previous city attornery who wrote a book review comittee policy that did not reflect favorably on council members by including their word for word suggestions.

I've never been a fan of the guy from the time he announced his first run. He's got a very inflated opinion of himself. I can't fathom the other council members aren't going to start privately pushing him to step aside.

There are a few members on the council that are tied into the Galveston County political machine. I can't say for sure if Hicks is one of them, but the ones that for sure are seem to side with him often. A petition for recall can't be filed for another two months and it requires 20% of the registered voters signatures. I'm hoping common sense wins out and he is encouraged to step down.

Looks like the Mayor pulled his support and is going against him. I think that makes a resignation all but a certainty. This guy has just doubled down on stupid over and over for last two months.

Disagree on the librarian.

Long I'd like to see gone, but he ran unopposed. It would appear no one really wants to be Mayor. He won't be there long term anyway. Pretty sure he has other aspirations in the political world which is also why he turned on Hicks so quick.

My understanding is the librarian was very insubordinate.

The League City, City Council/Mayor has always been a drama machine. Council members coming to blows in the city manager's office, the mayor on her scooter getting into a road rage incident with a high school kid, it is always something.

This got posted from a records request. This goes well beyond dramatic and into the realm of a serious threat.

Interesting. I tried to join that some years ago and they would never let me. No idea why. Had no idea who was in charge or how to appeal. Then they blocked me altogether and that group/page (can't even remember which one it is) won't even show up on any search I do. Do any LC councilmen still post on it?
