I live in Katy and want to get my almost 10 year old a lesson or two on batting for little league. Last fall season was his first season, and about to start spring ball. Want to improve his batting skills. While I am happy to work with him a lot, and I help coach his team, I just think this is something he may respond to better with an instructor than his dad.

Any recommendations on who or where to go? The closest to me is House of Hitters and there is an instructor there who starts at 8 years old named something Gordon. Any thoughts on him? If not there, any other recommendations?

Finally, if anyone knows a good batting drill to use or training aid, that woudl be appreciated as well.

Thanks. Doing that as well, but trying to get some solid fundamentals to build on. Thinking he may respond better, or just get better instruction in general than I can do, from a professional.

My 10 year old goes to Katy Sports and Fitness and see's "Coach Scott"

He's been great and while you gotta go down 1093, if you're in the west end of Cinco, it may be closer that HoH.

Trey Capers used to own Katy Sports & Fitness, but I believe is now with HoH. They, plus Velo and D-Bat are all good options.

I think Trey still owns KSF, but moved over behind the Fulshear PD.

Yeah thinking more about it I think he merged with HoH.

I know several who have worked with Derrick Gordon at HOH including my son. He is great with teaching the basics and getting more out of hitters. I highly recommend him.

Would highly recommend Derrick Gordon. He has worked with both of my boys and has given hitting/pitching lessons to many in the Katy area.

You can call HoH and they will be able to book you.

I'd recommend having a few pre-game beers and yelling batting tips at him from the bleachers. For maximum impact, make him walk home after the game if he strikes out. He may hate you for it, and your relationship may never recover, but damn if he won't thank you for all of your sacrifices during his HOF induction speech.

I'm an asst coach so I am on the field. It is easier to cuss out the 16 year old umpire and fight the other team's coach that way. The beer is in my water bottle.

It is really simple to book single lessons at D-BAT through their online portal. They have the profiles of all the instructors on the website for you to choose from. Some of the other places may want to push you to purchase a package or subscription. I haven't found D-BAT to be very pushy in that regard.

Trey Capers Katy Sports and Fitness. He is the owner. Played ball at Texas State.

Jerry Hammond 832-264 6174. Wish we would have started here. It would have saved me a bunch of time, money and frustration.

I have a Swing Away Travel Pro I will sell. Excellent training system.

That's correct. Fulshear PD has moved out of the complex though. My son works with Trey over at KSF, and I have nothing but good things to say.

Derrick Gordon or Coach Coco at HOH. Velo has good instructors as well.

Took him to Derrick last night. It just worked out that he was available and just signed him up for a 30 minute lesson. My boy is already a totally different hitter. Couldn't be happier with that first lesson.
