That slopped a bunch of asphalt over the active water leak on Main at 45N?

There's been a water leak coming up through the middle of the road for at least a week now. Now there's still an active leak but there's fresh asphalt. Classic city work.

in a similar vein, i saw another massive water leak yesterday that was quite efficiently gushing straight into a storm drain.

How many active water leaks does the city have? Why are they having so many issues getting them fixed? I recall there was a dust up about contracting and some unqualified BIL of the contracting officer getting the contracts. Is that still going on?

Not fixing water leaks in any sort of timely fashion is a time-honored tradition in Houston.

I drive past that one every day. There was also one at Yale and 20th that lasted for about 8 months before they finally fixed it. No telling how many gallons wasted.
