if I read it correctly in the Chron - it's too soon to have an election for her spot before November. I assume the Republican is already set for the November ballot. So the local Democratic party chairs will hand-select someone to be on the Democratic side of the ballot. There are actually quite a few who've announced they're interested. Can you imagine the back-room bargaining going on to get selected? It's like the smoke-filled rooms of the olden days.

Whoa whoa whoa, hold up. I hear Shejack Jr. is just as incompetent and mean as mom was. Surely we should honor Sheila's legacy by anointing her daughter as her replacement. She can pick up where mom left off- alienating everyone, focusing on self promotion, not accomplishing anything, etc. No need for fresh blood who might build a coalition for accomplishing a leftwing agenda.
