Summer Film Series: "The Mighty Ducks"
Date: June 7, 2024
Time: 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Hosted By: George H. W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum
Location: 1000 George Bush Drive West College Station, Texas 77845
The second movie of our 2024 Summer Film Series will be "The Mighty Ducks." This fun kids hockey movie was released in 1992 by Walt Disney Pictures. To commemorate what would have been President Bush's 100th birthday this summer, we looked at a list of 100 best family-friendly movies and selected four of our favorites that came out when President Bush was in office.
This movie follows a reckless young lawyer, Gordon Bombay, who is arrested for drunk driving and required to coach a kids' hockey team for his community service. Bombay has experience on the ice, but isn't eager to return to hockey. The reluctant Bombay eventually grows to appreciate his team, and leads them to take on the toughest team in the league.
Bring your blankets and lawn chairs as we enjoy this film under the stars. Games and free refreshments (while supplies last) will begin at 7 p.m., and the movie will start just after sundown. You may bring your coolers, but please no pets or glass containers.
This movie is being shown in conjunction with The Spirit of the Place, a special exhibit for 41@100: A Celebration of George H.W. Bush. This exhibit will explore the George H.W. Bush Presidential Center's place in our community and its impact on the world. From the initial conversations to place the Bush Library & Museum at Texas A&M University, to the full development of the Bush Presidential Center, visitors will discover how President Bush and his ongoing legacy are intertwined with the Spirit of Aggieland. This exhibit will be on display in the Ansary Gallery of American History from June 10, 2024 - January 12, 2025.
