Traffic cones closing lanes on Roesner, Katy Gap, Cobia, Falcon Landing and Bayhill Blvd to name a few. Water stations set up. Signs with "Event Flagger Ahead". MS 150 isn't until April.

What is going on? Is this a new bicycle invasion? How do we defund it???? Can't find any info on the innerwebs of the google machine.

EDIT: If this is some dumb ass Mardi Gras parade they need to just go to the one in Galveston.

These unsafe bicycle events in high traffic areas are almost as bad as the illegal protester road closures. No one is going to support your cause no matter what it is when you shut down their roads and screw with their already-congested roads. I'll be outside yelling at the clouds if anyone needs me.

Katy Half Marathon and 5k. Those signs have been up for a few days. Had to run errands this morning and knew to stay away.

I still think it's a terrible idea. Katy has some of the worst drivers in the world. The kind that just started driving at age 60 in a new country. I could easily see participating humans getting run over inside the traffic cone areas.

Those of us in the city are so used to something going on all the time it's second nature to check traffic before putting it in drive.

It's kind of funny so little takes place, that something that minor is such a big deal in the burbs.

Hello.

This is the Houston board. I see you have some massive insecurities to have nothing better to do on a Saturday morning than to devote your time to our great city. I hope someday you can find that sliver of happiness you so desperately desire. The deep end isn't for everyone.

Sincerely,
The great inhabitants of The Tine.

That was quite the rant against cyclists for an event that ended up having nothing to do with them.....

Guess we should add you to the spreadsheet with the poster that thinks all crosswalks should be removed as no pedestrian should ever cross any road.

Serious answer:

I heard from some of the neighborhood moms that the human sex traffickers needed dedicated lanes to expedite the flow of female cargo they're abducting from the Kroger parking lot.

I'm 100% in favor of crosswalks!

But you can put me on the spreadsheet of people who don't like when people force dangerous situations that impede traffic flow on automobile operators.

That can be via bicycle, pedestrian, e-bike, unicycle, recumbent bicycle, drone, and above all, protester.

In fact, later on yesterday I was going down roesner again and there was a guy jogging on the road. No shoulder. No place to safely jog. Guy just holding up traffic daring someone not paying attention to run him over. I don't care what the law says about it. It's immoral and self indulgent at the expense of others.

Seems like many on here would be happier living in Vietnam or India with their wildly unsafe roads. Who's putting together that spreadsheet?

Wait. Are you really complaining about a guy running down a country road in Katy?

Yes, apparently it is "immoral and self-indulgent" to… share a public space with others…

Roesner is 4 lanes except for a sliver that is currently under construction. I'm also fairly certain there is a sidewalk on 95% of it.

5 years ago it was a country road…

Roesner between Westheimer Parkway and Katy Gap is most definitely 2 lanes, and is probably the section he was referring to. On one side is a deep draining ditch, the other side no room for any one to safely walk or run.

Honestly, I don't know. Haven't been on that road for a while. But I don't recall the bridge construction. I'm not even sure where the bridge is, now that I think of it. Immediately after getting on Roesner from Westheimer Parkway, perhaps?

The bridge on Greenbusch is back open. The road is still 2 lanes each way for now.
