figured I head over to the Gin Blossoms.

I've never been. What's the appeal of balcony vs. general admission? I'll be with my wife. We're in our early 50's and drink more like Presbyterians than Lutherans if that info helps.

Wife and I are doing a few balcony parties there this weekend for the first time. I'm hoping it will be a little less of a **** show than partying street side which is why we got tickets, but we will find out. Also, haven't done Mardi Gras in Galveston in probably 10+ years so I don't even know if the street level parties are still **** shows.

WTF is the difference between alcohol consumption between Presbs and Luths?

I'd go with balcony if possible.

Edit: I'm Catholic, so how do we match up to the two aforementioned groups?

Check with the party, but you probably need to buy and bring your beads to throw from the balcony.

Baptists: At home, alone, or in small groups of consenting adults

Presbyterians: In public, in moderation, primarily just to tick off the Baptists

Lutherans: In public, in excess, because they can't let the Episcopals win

Episcopals: Hey, this moscato is only 10%. Why did we only get 2 cases?

Catholics: I know my pants are around here somewhere...

Experience is expensive.

Galveston PD does not mess around during Madi Gras.

Different branches of my extended family are Lutheran and Presby, so here's my assessment:

Given a 10-point scale in which Catholics are 10 and Latter Day Saints are 0, Lutherans would likely place at 8 (if they are ELCA; LCMS would be a 6.5, maybe a 7; don't know about Wisconsin Synod). As for Presby, those in the PCUSA are moderate social drinkers, so give them a 6. PCA probably more like a 4, at most. (Certainly lower than SBC).

All of these unfortunate stereotypes match up pretty well with personal experiences.

It's always a fun ****show. I'm likely not in this year, but usually use Galveston as a nice appetizer. Headed to Nola on Thursday next week.

I'm looking to have a fun afternoon and evening, not revel in a rat-infested, vomit-soaked, condemned dump. And who knows how bad it gets when there's a party...

Gin Blossoms was great last night. Balcony would have been fun, but not worth the price.

Did the headquarters balcony friday night across from the main stage and Axecade Saturday. Really liked Axecade balcony. Got there early and got a table and just hung out all day with very light crowd on the balcony all day. Was pricey at $70 but totally worth it.

Will the FTAB be marching this Saturday? They're always a hit with the parade crowd.

As a Lutheran, I'll sign off on this scale. I find it acceptable.

Speaking of Mardi Gras, I was at the beach house on Bolivar/Crystal Beach this past weekend. The ferry waits were short both ways. If anybody wants to go down, I'll rent my place cheap for this coming weekend. Atm94unc98 at the google

Wish the Gin Blossoms would've been here in Houston. I really would like to see them but did not want to face that fecal festival down there.

You must have confused Galveston with some other apocalyptic locale that causes your well-heeled suburban mind to quake in fear.

The Mardi Gras parade show ad on channel 13 is super cringe with all the fertittas in it. I guess when you are that rich you can buy ad time and stick your wang in it.
