I counted at least 10 cars pulled over on 59S between 610 and Sugar Land by multiple different jurisdictions (HPD, HCSO, FBSO, Memorial Villages, Constable). Was this some big crackdown on something, or just end of the month quotas?

The source of aggression is your heart. Look within my friend.

How is this working exactly? Aside from driving crazy, how can they prove someone had road rage?

Officer: "Sir / Ma'am, you know why I pulled you over?"

Driver: "Man, eff you pig!"

Officer: "Step out of the car"

There were over a dozen 18-wheelers and dump trucks pulled over in Delmar Stadium. All lined up with most of their hoods propped and a cop car was in front of each of them.

Good. I'm all for exceeding the speed limit, but people are driving like complete lunatics.

If this were closer to the border, based on the activity I have seen from local PD and State Troopers down there the past few times I have been, I would say they are trying to catch human and drug traffickers. Maybe they are starting to ramp up similar ops in the cities?

This. I have definitely seen more psycho/dangerous driving since the pandemic. Police basically didn't enforce traffic laws for two years. But there has been a noticeable increase in that and road rage chases from my experience.

They could start by targeting specific vehicles.

Dodge Charger
Dodge Challenger
Dodge Hellcat
Chrysler 300
Nissan Altima w/paper tags
Polaris Slingshot (bonus if it has the Christmas light package, double bonus if driven by a white person)

I have watched enough television to know that there is obviously a suitcase nuke on the loose in this city. Hopefully a streetwise, but jaded HPD patrolman will disobey orders from his possibly crooked superior and save us all.

Sugar Land police just need to sit on University and nail the Riverstone/Sienna folks who are doing 70+ in a 45.

They need to target the buttholes that drive while on their phones or who camp out in the left lane or who pace the cars next to them so that traffic cannot flow around them.

I'll give you 2 guesses as to providing a description of the highest percentage of offenders for the categories above. You'll likely only need one guess though.

You know, go after the actual problem.

Good. I hate idiots who are speeding and weaving in and out of lanes, passing on shoulders, etc. Of course I'm one of those guys who likes to keep an eye in my rear view mirror to speed up/slow down and box them in, the other side of the road rage equation.
plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

Targeting that list would bring the West Loop to a standstill most Friday & Saturday nights.

Kirkwood south of Memorial had its share of this at lunch. About 8 cars all pulled over just past the south bound bridge

Kirkwood south of the bridge, and I mean immediately south of the bridge, has been a high target for traffic enforcement the last couple months, at least. Drop your speed through there, especially if the weather is somewhat nice.

Not related and not a sting, but a traffic cop happened to be driving next to me on 610 this morning. A car was using the Woodway/Memorial exit lane to bypass 610 traffic. Of course, he passed the double solid line, then the striped lane, then onto the shoulder of 610 to find a gap to get in.

Cop promptly turned on his lights, got through traffic, and busted him.

It made me smile.

Not highway traffic, but HPD has been working the right turn red light (no turn on red) on Austin Street at McKinney in front of Phoenicia Market pretty hard all month. Feels like they've got a patsy pulled over every 5 minutes. Gotta protect those….heavily used….bike lanes.

I noticed this last week as well, so I asked my friend about it who is with HPD. He didn't know exactly what it was, but he surmised that it was a DPS task force cracking down on human trafficking using the 59 corridor for transport.

I wouldn't speed too much on 59S in other counties if you're heading down for some coastal or cultural exchange.

*should say, I was thinking further down south, not neighboring.

So the second poster on this thread is smarter than a cop. Got it.
