How long do you want to ignore this user?
On Friday morning, my father had some "episode", maybe TIA's. Anyway up until then he has been doing fine living alone with an occasional housekeeper / cook showing up every week. We called 911 and the ambulance took him to a hospital in Conroe. He's been there 6 days recovering from pneumonia, no solid food, etc and now the hospital wants us to act ASAP and take him to a rehab / nursing home.

Have any of you had a good experience with any places in or near Conroe / Woodlands, even Huntsville or Livingston?

Here a few they threw at us:
Park Manor
The Bright Pointe
Woodland Manor
Conroe Health Care Center - NOT THIS ONE, I've been told it's "nasty"!

One data point on quality is Medicare's nursing home/rehab rating system. Just plug in the zip code and it will tell you how nearby facilities are rated.

Thanks Eclipse, I'll check it out.

Doesn't necessarily have to be medicare-covered.

Encompass Health close to St. Luke's, Woodlands on 45. Highly recommend. Good people and clean. Dr. Majesky is top notch.

Highly recommend a rehab facility before a nursing home. Have also been impressed recently with encompass but not in the same town. The combination of physical therapy and occupational therapy seem to have helped avoid a nursing home after a 2 week stay for a relative recently.

Sorry you're going through this at the moment. Very tough spot to be and generally not something most of us ever think we'll need to do.

Suggest you contact a referral agency, specifically 'a place for mom', and ask for small-home senior care facilities in your area. These facilities and staff are generally way better than any big facility, as well as much more personable. This is one that I used for my mom when she was in her last days: https://maps.app.goo.gl/yUNBZ7mx6G3bcsPp9?g_st=ic

Good luck and again, so sorry you and your family is going through this right now.
