The Oilers played at Rice Stadium for a few years too; they could triple attendance with a follow-on promotion. The MOB would probably do an explicit homage to Bud Adams rotten corpse if you could get someone to explain to a bunch of fragile, nerdy, 19-year-old music majors what Adams' significance is around here.

Some of them are still in high school. My former boss was in the MOB and clued me in (not that I cared).

Majority of the members are not students. Was having beers at the Gingerman, RIP, and a good number were in the place and they told me that they had been performing for over 17 years.

Yeah, unless the rule has changed, Rice allowed members of the community to join student organizations, despite not being students. If you look closely, you'll see old graybeards in the Mob. My high school band director was in it.

I think the fact that the MOB is just a rag-tag bunch of volunteers and n'er-do-wells makes their legend greater.

As for Cougar High and the city, I encourage my kids to be open-minded and root locally for the "city's" teams, whether it be Rice, UH or even TSU. They still put Ags #1, but I'm not going to prevent them from rooting on the Coogs when they make a deep run in the NCAA's. I even tried to let them like the Texans (and not just the Cowboys), but that wore off without my encouragement.

Didn't the Rockets do the colorway last year? UH could change the jersey to say Cougars and have the Titans pound sand.

Ole Miss uses that combination every year
