Looking at rates on Power to Chose...and this one from Good Charlie has an interesting gimmick, per the signup:

Includes FREE 24/7 unlimited access to licensed veterinarians and $750 to fund an emergency vet bill. Covers up to 5 pets.

What?

They actually had the best rate when I signed up. Didn't even realize the vet stuff till after I signed up.

Someone on Texags turned me onto Thigbe. Take a look at them. Their rates are much lower than what you'll find on PowertoChoose.

I'm currently with GoodCharlie, haven't used this service, but wonder the legitimacy of it.

yeah, I signed up with them (event though I have no pets) because of the rate.

They sent me a sampler pack of dog food after I enrolled.

Very odd indeed.

Not that big of a stretch really.

Second Thigbe. They've been great. Owner is an Ag. You get a slight discount on their fees for being an Ag.

What is Thigbe? Just went on the website. Is it similar to energy ogre?

It's a concierge service. They buy in bulk to get cheaper prices than what you can get from energy ogre and similar places that just show you what's available l. They monitor your plan and sign you up for new ones when you're due. You don't have to worry about the month to month charges because you forgot to change your plan. Their prices are cheap in comparison to anything else. I've been with them a good while and I don't think twice about my electric bill.

People with pets need the A/C on during the day.

What does buy in bulk mean? Sign up for REP providers in waves? Trying to understand how they are different from Energy Ogre.

They won't be. There is no bulk discount that a broker like energy ogre or thigbe gets access to with retailers. In fact most retailers try very hard to make it difficult for those brokers to actually find the best rates.

So do you pay Thigbe direct, or do you pay the electric company? I see they have a .004/kWh charge for their services, so does everything go through them or is it two bills?

Direct to Thigbe.

Ok, so you kick them $10 a month roughly to handle things for you. Do they tend to sign you up for annual plans, multi-year plans, or shorter term? Do they swap plans midway and deal with cancelation fees, or do you keep whatever plan to term? I ask because I've got to deal with this in July.

It is less than $10/month. And they do the shopping for rates with suppliers. I just ended a 2 year contract where my price per kw/h was .045. My new one is for 16 months and is for .06 per kw/h. I have also had very short contracts. They send an email asking if you want to participate and you accept or decline.

Who is providing the electricity in your case 0.06 is good.

New one is with True Power. Previous was with Spark Energy.

You must mean energy charge, not full price. I just switched to Trupower for .06 per kwh energy charge. Total including Centerpoint is close to .10 per kwh.

True power does rate pretty well on PTC if you export all the offers. I see them near the top if I run my usage by month.

Frontier and True have the same deal….but only for new customers, currently have Frontier. Anyone ever get a company to treat them as new even though I've been there 2 years.

Just signed up with Thigbe. Hope this thread wasn't created by AI.
94chem,
That, sir, was the greatest post in the history of TexAgs. I salute you. -- Dough

So they are another Energy Ogre but apparently don't cost &10/no.?

How easy was it to switch to Thigbe? I'm interested in switching over from Reliant based on what I've read on their website and on this thread.

Pretty easy to sign up. No different than using any energy provider. I've been using them since December. They signed me up for a 3 yr rate at 7.62 cents which is was happy at the time since everything else was more than double. Provider is TruePower.

I'll admit their website was a work in progress when I first signed up and (they told me they were working on it), and you have to pay a higher fee to use credit card vs debit, but otherwise no issues in the last few months.

Be honest, am I signing up to sell dietary supplements? Phone cards? Essential oils?
GoAgs92
How long do you want to ignore this user?
if I am reading all of the posts correctly, Energy Ogre charges $10 per month and Thigbe charges $.004 per KWH?

is that the only difference between the two?
GoAgs92
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Signed up with True Power with a long term contract. $0.0681 energy charge per KWH.

not great but better than the 15.2 cents with $100 rebate between 1,000-2,000 offered by Frontier as a current customer.

I miss the $0.04 days.

I also looked into that Good Charlie deal and it turns out the Vets are "tele doc" vets.

So I didn't think it was that great of a benefit, as I only have one pet.

where are you seeing that kind of price? everything on their website is double what you are quoting.

About the same they just put me on, 18months and ~10c all-in. Not bad. Easy to sign up and responsive to emails.

And EO sucks.
