Without mentioning HEB or grocery stores, are there any local butcher shops in Houston? was thinking about getting a gift card from one for my brother for Christmas. I dont know of anywhere off the top of my head.

What types of products do you get there? I've been a couple of times looking for nice steaks and was disappointed with the options.Ryan the Temp said:
B&W Meat Company on N. Shepherd (but it's not inside the loop)
I haven't been in there in a long time; is it really a butcher shop? I was thinking it was more of a retail for their prepackaged specialty meats that some grocery stores also carry? Though I'm sure they have a lot more there than you'll find in the grocery stores.ccolley68 said:

place is solid for every day meats, but not high end.Mas89 said:
Stark Brothers beef shop. In the hood on the East side but their marinated sirloin fajitas are the best. Good steaks too. Huge selection.
HLSR used them this year for steer auction, they had a great selection.texags82 said:

Agree 100%, I don't see any reason to go there vs. HEB.CDUB98 said:
I've never been impressed with B&W.
Long lines. Average to above average meat. Lots of typical Texas selection, but nothing exotic. IMO, not worth it.
central market meat counter is fairly strong in the 'treat yourself' department, though....swimmerbabe11 said:
a gift card to central market feels like a grocery gift card.. to a butcher shop is a treat yo self gift
As a meat market, it seems pretty basic. As a restaurant, they serve decent, yet not Texas Monthly worthy, BBQ in generous portions at very affordable prices. Their two meat plate can easily be turned into two meals.schmellba99 said:
Bud's House of Meat - don't know anything about them, but they have a pretty solid menu and selection
