Anyone know the best way to get to terminal E gates with the security being closed. I'm thinking go through D but have been to IAH in a long time. Any advice?

Just go through c if you aren't a frequent traveler.

Lately I go through B for everything. Park at terminal. Zip through security. Take tram wherever I need.

Depends on time of day. United has one counter in D, but you have to take train with your luggage.

I like to check in at B then take above ground train anywhere.

Valet park B

Take sky train over to e

Upon return, take underground Johnny cab train back to b

If you carry on and are a domestic return to E you can take the SkyTrain back to B.

As a 40+ week per year biz traveller who's used airport valet for years, be careful with terminal B valet. I've seen 2 separate cases of lost keys in the past 6 weeks that is really concerning. This is on top of some crazy delays in finding cars upon return.

I've stopped using term B valet (all airport valet, really) for this reason. Massive staffing issues at IAH valet. Hobby valet doesn't seem to be as affected by staffing.

Until the new baggage complex is done, b is the safest terminal to avoid traffic. C/E ok if you are traveling off peak hours. Make sure that applies to both departing and arriving.

Like most have said, use terminal B to park, drop bags, and clear security. From there, take the airside train to E.

When you get back, if you didn't check, use the airside train to get back to B.

If you did check, get your bags and then proceed down to the subway of sadness in the sub-basement and ride that train back to B.

I haven't had any issues with Terminal C this past month with about 5 outbound flights during the same time. The security scanner at C that allows you to keep everything in your bag (don't have to take out laptops or liquids) seems to keep the lines short.

Go to D, through security, and walk over the bridge to E.

D is amazing - no line at check in for the United counter then a quick walk to E. I have used D to check in 4 times in the past two months, it feels like I have my own personal check in and security lines, have never had to wait.

Have a flight tomorrow at noon from Terminal C (I think...going to Cancun...right?). Should I expect any issues? When with kids, we normally just valet at the terminal. Any more recent experience with parking or valeting at C?

Last time I pre-booked a spot at terminal C the bar code scanners wouldn't work so ended up taking a ticket. On exit you have to go to the "Need Help" line, show them your pre-booked reservation, and then they'll let you out - only took a few minutes but I'll likely just pull a ticket at the gate going forward to avoid the hassle. The one lane of traffic upon exit from terminal C parking has been the biggest bottleneck.

Getting through security at C has been a breeze this past month for me.

I just returned from an international trip Wednesday. Zero issues parking in A/B and flying out of E.

I reserved in the A/B Garage for a trip a couple of weeks ago. When exiting the garage, I went through a lane that apparently wasn't designated for reservations. The QR reader read my code just fine, but the gate wouldn't lift. The lady came over to me and told me that reservations weren't allowed in that lane, but they needed a "tech" to update the signage over the lane. She told me to go over four lanes or whatever as it is the only one that will allow reservations, so I do.

The QR reader at that lane doesn't work for me, though. Another employee comes over and tries to get my code to work for a couple of minutes while telling me that they've been having trouble with it. No luck, so call over the supervisor to help. She tells me to back up so that it would give them more room to work (they are only scanning a phone, mind you), so I do. Still nothing. They call over yet another employee (the first one I talked to) to discuss the situation at which point they finally decide to radio the "main supervisor" to open the gate as I clearly had a valid reservation that was then about 90 seconds from expiring.

So, my attempt to use technology and make this process easy ended up with it taking no less than 15 minutes and no less than four airport employees just to get me out of the damn place. I would have been mad if it weren't so ironically funny.

i always pre reserve parking and that scenario is not uncommon. i've gotten to the point where i can identify and troubleshoot it pretty quick. ive had them just lift the arm and send me on my way cause we coudnt get it to work.
