A year ago, all the mask signs just said "recommended" or something vague, but the signs do look official.

I did not wear a mask and no one enforced it. About 20% wore a mask.

I'd say 99% madk compliance at the moment.

When walking in before the metal detector, they forced me to take a mask even though I had one. They said if I get picked, I had to wear theirs.

Thank you for attending. Lots of people ***** about jury verdicts but don't show up when called. Like *****ing about politics but not voting.

I had jury duty downtown ~6 months ago and there were lots of signs and I think someone at entrance line that was halfway enforcing it. Not required if you were eating/drinking and I was constantly refilling my coffee til they let us go around 11.

I told them I wasn't going to put a mask on my face that had been pawed all over on the inside by some rando employee's bare hands and would use my own. They brought a fresh box and told me to pull my own mask out of the box.

I got picked for a Jury last year. The judge straight up told us that if we skipped the Jury summons, nothing would happen to us. I was happy to do it out of a sense of duty, but I'm at the point now that I would ignore the summons if they're going to act like its April 2020.

In the past year I have received summons for both the Municipal Court and the County Court. This is after 20+ years of having never received a summons.

I'm genuinely curious about the process and was happy to report to the courts. In both cases, I sat in a holding room for 6+ hours and was then released after never being asked a single question, so I never got to actually see what happens during jury selection. In fact, in both occassions, every single person that reported was released without ever being called back. The whole thing felt like a colosal waste of time for everyone involved.

Counter argument is if for some reason you were either the dependent or aggrieved, do you want the dumbest possible people in the box?

It's a pain but I do feel the need to serve.

In the aughts I served on a murder trial for 4 weeks. Drove my boss crazy, but wow was it educational.

plus they know ill throw someone in jail for 60 years.

TexAggers should serve on juries when possible. When you consider how much of the general public can just barely function, it seems like our only hope is if someone from this site that is summoned actually gets to participate.

It just means more work on my weekend.

Well, there is that.

I know it's petty. I'm just overwhelmed with work.

It's a legit concern though. The law requires employers to let you serve. Some employers still expect your work to be done even if it means your 40+ hours comes at night and on weekends.

In my 20's I had jury duty and my boss as the time said "if you get picked I'm going to fire your ass!"

He was mostly kidding. Mostly.

Can't wait to hear the stories. This was where everyone's insanity showed through. "Yes sir, you can trust me to be honest and fair, I read people's auras and I'll know immediately if they're good or bad." And that was not the most ridiculous thing I heard, by far.

I had jury duty yesterday and was the first person selected to the panel... civil case over a minor car wreck from 2014. Plaintiff wanted a small amount of money and was awarded nothing.

Complete waste of taxpayers money. This case should have been in small claims court or elsewhere. The cost impact to the city to gather 40 people for half a day, 13 of them for full day, judge, bailiffs, coordinators, facilities was far greater then what the plaintiff wanted. Everyone (including judge and plaintiffs attorney) knew the plaintiff wasnt going to get anything but we had to still go through the motions.

This was a trials equivalent of "This meeting should have been an email"

What if you refuse to wear a mask? I'm genuinely curious about that as I thought the theater was over at state buildings?
