How long do you want to ignore this user?
Looking for good hot shot owner-operators in the greater Houston area to lease on with my trucking company. North Houston/Spring/Conroe is a plus.

Our drivers average six figure 1099's every year

Prefer class A CDL drivers with minimum 3 years' experience

OR

Non class A drivers with 1 year experience pulling loads

Clean MVR and drug screen is a must

Willingness to travel regionally
Ability to secure and safely transport a load
Ability to tarp
Punctuality and a great attitude are imperative!

VETERANS ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO APPLY

We are a 12 year old, Houston based hot shot trucking company with a 100% direct customer base. We don't run any brokered loads.

If interested, call or text:

Sorry dude, I'm sure there's a funny joke in there somewhere, but I'm probably too old to get the reference.

Either that, or there's more than one Mike in Houston.

just curious, how many miles do those drivers pull every year and how many days are they on the road?

While I am not qualified for this particular opportunity, I'll hang onto your number for when you say something mean to me on the zoo.

Roughly 50-60k miles
Average probably 4 days on the road, but maybe only 1-2 nights away from home per week on average. Some weeks we are home every night. Sometimes they only work a job that takes a couple hours, sometimes longer distance, though probably 95% is within 500 miles.

Honestly, it's easy work, I won't lie. We get paid for being available when the customer needs us and being on time, not for difficulty of task. Pretty stress free job.

But if you have to have a defined schedule and can't handle being on call, it's not for you.

Conversely, if you can't stand 9-5 and someone standing over your shoulder at all times, this is a great job.

Can it be done with a half ton pickup?

Had an old neighbor that did jobs in a minivan. His was usually transporting organs from the airport to a hospital. Always at odd hours. Didn't stop him from drinking at all. Just pour that vodka and cranberry into a styrofoam and hit the road.

No sir, not in this case

Some things certainly can be, but not enough that it would make sense for me to hire someone with those limitations

does your company pay for fuel? This seems like a great gig if they do. I may have to look in to something like this when i retire.

No, our drivers are owner operators. They are responsible for their own expenses.

They also make a whole lot more than company drivers do (drivers for whom the company pays all the expenses). And all of their expenses are deductible, too.

Sounds like he was driving for some local delivery company, not a USDOT trucking company.

That crap doesn't fly. Not for long with drug/alcohol random screenings.

What's your split with the owner/operators?

A guy on my rodeo committee loves to go into detail about the random roadside p tests, the cardboard stands, etc.; and how many dumbass drivers they've lost to testing. It is apparently no joke.
