Out of state Ag here. My wife is crossing the border and headed to Harwin St (hope I spelled that right) to buy a formal dress. Her and her assistant want to eat Mexican while in that area. What's best?

DM me if y'all ever need recs for restaurants in SW LA.

They're women. They want what they want and they want Mexican. I'm not straying from that in my suggestions.

Trust me, I know my wife.

If they want to stay in relative area of Harwin/Chinatown, there is an El Tiempo at Gessner & Westheimer and a Los Tios by there too.

This is bad advice. Houston is practically the tex-mex/mexican food capitol of the US and you recommend a Colombian place lol??

In his defense, he's probably thinking as a local with amazing Mexican food available any time you want it.

We don't get that in Louisiana. So if headed to Houston you stop at a Buc-Ees on the way and eat Mexican for lunch

That El Tiempo is way better than that los tios.

Have them order a mariqueso. Its shrimp in melted cheese in tortillas that they make into soft tacos.

Also, my wife and most women enjoy the cannon ball, which is a stuffed fried avocado.

Everything there is pretty good.

Only 8 minutes for the "do yourself a favor and do something besides what you asked about..." reply. Impressive.

I like the cannon ball too. I miss the el domi plate there.

Neither of those places is even close to Harwin/Chinatown.

Don Carlos, 69/Hillcroft on inbound side. Free Queso, inexpensive Mexican food.

ETA: Keep your head on a swivel in that area.

Even as a local, Im not sure Ive ever heard anyone in Houston say skip all the good mexican restaurants and go to a colombian place lol. Mi Pueblito is good but I would still rather eat mexican food. Im Puerto Rican and know a good Rican restaurant and a good Dominican spot, but not sure I would recommend those over El Tiempo or any good mexican place.

Assuming they're in a car and not walking the whole way in high heels, El Tiempo is a good close suggestion for the ladies.

Yeah that El Tiempo is within 15 min from any point on Harwin. Depending how close they are to Gessner it is not far at all and safe and a good houston Tex Mex experience.

In that direct area, La Tapatia is solid.

Molina's on Westheimer @ Stoney Brook is a staple of Houston Tex Mex.

Just got the report back. This was a major winner.

Good job, Ags. At ease.

MC T.T. Tucker has some lyrics for you on his classic song "Where Dey At".

I know this is a Houston board but your Louisiana username needs a New Orleans response.

I was thinking maybe MFBarnes but only one post... Not a large enough dataset to determine.

I haven't been in years, but Fajita Flats is near that area and one of my childhood favorite spots. I am sure someone will pipe in to say if it is still good.

El Tiempo is my current favorite if it isn't the OG Ninfa's. There's one near Harwin.
