Well...my view of cops got went down after yesterday.
I show up at court, and once things get going, my lawyer from Sullo and Sullo eventually shows up. As I mentioned, almost everyone there claimed Sullo as their lawyer. She was clearly going between multiple courtrooms.
I finally get to talk to her, and she mentions the officer is in the building, so it's going to take some time. I then don't see the lawyer for a while.
So from 8:00 until 11:00 we just sit there.
The court goes into recess, and I run into the lawyer and ask how things are going. She said the cop would be coming to our court next. He's been in different rooms all day.
Once he's in there, I finally get details on what's going on.
First, the cop (Officer Salinas) was in court for 170 different cases that day and was clearly loving it. He was trailed by different lawyers trying to get him to come into the different courts.
Second, it became clear what he was doing. Because I had so much time, I ended up talking to other people there. The story was pretty similar. This cop would pull you over, and hit you with multiple traffic offenses so you either pay them all or show up to court (hence 170 cases).
Once he got there, he agreed to dismiss all but 1, for which we were then offered deferment.
Saw it happen to at least 10 people before it was my turn.
The lawyer for Sullo said we could continue to fight, but that involves coming back again in another couple of months. Or you pay the $150 and be done with it.
So moral of the story is Salinas seems to be doing this as a money grab (whatever he's getting paid to show), and he clearly knows what he's doing. If you get pulled over by him, expect a ticket for multiple items. He got me when I was downtown, so that may be his area.
In terms of Sullo...I'm not sure I'd recommend them if anything because they were so busy that you didn't get an actual service. I'm fairly certain I could have gotten the same result from almost any lawyer, and saved money simply by not paying Sullo the premium. She had so many cases, that all she was doing was churning through them to the easiest resolution.
