Well, for one thing, you can try out EO for $10 and see if you like it. If you don't like the plans they find you, they will refund your $$. With TPA, it looks like you have to pay the whole year up front and not sure about any refund option. Not sure about this, but a lot of companies like TPA work with energy companies and basically are able to offer rates in bulk to their customers. Kind of block buying. EO is going to match your usage with over 100 energy companies and I think over a thousand plans.
You can look at all the awards EO has won above. As I said, no company is perfect. I am sure TPA helps people. I can just tell you that you rarely find a dissatisfied EO customer.
It doesn't seem like anyone is bashing EO. I was just asking if the bolded above is true. I haven't looked at energy plans in years, so I genuinely don't know if EO is getting better rates for me than I would find on my own.
I had heard something similar to what third coast said about how they are often running the numbers to determine if it's economical to get out of a current plan and into a new one, but I too have never seen that happen. From my view point, they take my $10 every month and the only time I hear from them is once a year when they send me another 12 month policy to review.
