There is debate in family on how to pronounce Houston. No I'm not talking about the NY street Houston (How-ston)... I'm talking about

Hue-ston (or hugh-ston) vs you-ston (U-ston) . Which is correct. How did Sam Houston pronounce his last name?

I met some folks from Louisiana recently who asked me what's the correct way to pronounce houston, since they heard that we pronounce it U-ston. I have literally never heard anyone pronounce it without the H sound before.

Worked with some Brits that call it Hooston. Their pronunciation of the letter "H" is weird all around. Sounds like "Haytch."

I come from a family of 5 kids. All of us say Hou-ston with an H except one brother who is in the petrochem business says U-ston. I have no idea why he says it differently. Same parents and all raised in the Tine.

I will ask him and report back to the thread.
