Mayor Turner had started to feel the heat of the Buzbee campaign and KHOU hit pieces.
Yesterday he hit back, unleashing a goon squad of HPD officers and Yellowstone landscaping hands to clear out one of Houston's most used campgrounds, the woods just south of the Louisiana St. exit heading into downtown. Under the guise of "trimming trees" they proceeded to root out the campers and throw away their gear, filling at least one trailer load. A celebration, commemorating the clean up efforts by the city, was scheduled today in front of City Hall.
But, it was not to be!
Today the Coalition for Camping in Houston struck back, lighting fire to the festivities and befouling downtown's streets with a haze of smoke and putrid odor.
