Wife wants to go dancing this weekend. She'd prefer country and more dance floor, than cool bar with a small dance floor.

Anyone been to Big Texas Dance Hall recently? Reviews all over the place. We haven't been out dancing in forever.

My goals (in no particular order):

- don't get mugged
- avoid as many dbags as possible (seems unlikely)
- get my wife drunk enough at a reasonable price, but she can still perform later

I'll go as far as Conroe (trying to stay close to 45) if better options up that way.

This logistical issue should be your #1 priority right here.

If there is one thing I've learned over the years ... you never want to go all the way to Bingo Fuel. You gotta make your turn back to the house at just the right time ... and this is critical.

Its like hitting the sweet spot on a golf club or making that perfect cast where your bait drifts right over where you want it.

Well said, but as a longtime married man, my experience has proven that if you are going to err in your turn time back to the house, err on the side of staying out too long. Drunker with less inhibitions is better than slightly buzzed that's worn off and just plain tired.

Never been but the place that used to be Fanny's then Red River then whatever it is now on 249 seems to be pretty popular. "District 249?"

Big Texas is a decent time. Try to go when there is a concert or their throwback to 90s night. Non-concert nights have been very blah to me.

LOL @ Fannie's. Went there once before I started at A&M. That place seemed so damn far out in the boonies. I wasn't even from the area. Now district 249 is owned by the same volleyball dude who owns crowbar.

This thread is pathetic on a lot of levels. Keep up the good work everyone.

You guys make me feel OLD! The place on 249 was known as Virginia City to me and it seemed like it was in the middle of nowhere back then. I didn't realize it was still around.
