Howdy,

I posted this in the real estate section and figured here would be good too....for those who don't visits that part of the forum.

Aggie couple here!

We just purchased a lot in Spring Branch for our family of four and are looking for recommendations for builders. If any of you all know of any excellent builders in the Houston Area that are competitively priced we would greatly appreciate your feedback!

Thanks and gig'em

JUST bought new construction in Sienna Plantation with the Fiance. Move in around August time.

Seems we got a killer deal from David Weekly, but tbh, you wont get much of a deal if you are getting them to build it from scratch.

That being said, Perry Homes is probably the best that we looked at our in Sienna--their homes are fantastic looking and they do great work--they were just a bit too pricey for us. David Weekly is also awesome, we just went with them because they got us a better deal. I'd suggest Perry Homes from what I saw since you will pay through the nose if you are building from the dirt no matter which builder you select.

Edit:

On the Perry Homes, this is the one we were hooked on, but it was still being built and they wouldnt come down low enough on the price for us. This set up is immaculate though:

I am currently building a house and I have had a GREAT experience with our builder Dirk Hoyt from University Towne Building Corporation. I would have to say that I am glad he is on the team and I have found him to be nothing but honest throughout the whole process. He really goes out of his way to communicate and get things done in an effective manner. He does not have a million projects going on at once and provides personalized care to you project. Furthermore, he has been around for more than 30 years at the same location so he is not running away from anyone when your project is complete. He has a great relationship with his subcontractors who he has used forever and they just do things right. I have gotten to know him and his superintendent well (Erich Kleine) and I cannot say enough about them.

His website is http://utbc.net/. His email is dhoyt@utbc.net. His phone is 7138752481.

He would be happy to talk to you.

I have first hand experience with and highly recommend:

Moriarty construction
Southland homes
Bartula brothers
Ridgewater homes

These are all small, local custom builders.

Love this board. OP needs one home built on one lot he bought. First recommendation is one of the largest, if not the largest, privately owned home builders in the country.

"I am looking to grill great burgers for a family get together in my back yard. Where can I get great patties?"

Texags: Sysco Foods has great burgers.

Build on your lot???

While it's true that David Weekley is now one of the largest builders in Houston, they also have a BOYL division which is exactly what the OP requested. I guess you could give a suggestion of your own as well.

SSH Homes and Jason Hawthorne is the owner. He's an Aggie and lives in Spring Valley. Office is off I10 near Bingle. 713.819.2528 is his cell. He built a house for me in the Heights and in Spring Branch. Highly recommend

There's so much to consider here:
1. Are you planning to design a home first?
2. What's your desired sq footage / cost?

I'm in the middle of design in the same area, and we're only 2 months in it. Its a long process and I'm probably 1 year from having a final set of plans before permitting. I couldn't imagine having a builder involved at this phase.

Congrats!! We have already stated the design of the home and we've been told that it takes about 5 months to complete. From there we would start construction!

Thanks to everyone for the recommendations so far!

The one thing I will say is that architects and designer don't know how much milk work and special designs cost. For instance, a steel staircase will cost more than what they think it will. Only when you bid it out to a variety of builders do you realize how much it cost.
