As did I a few years prior as well as my brother. Nice, quiet office and did a great job

Wherever you go, get at least two consultations before doing Lasik. One reputable place told me I was a great candidate and set me up for Lasik the next month. Something felt off, so I got another consultation from somewhere else. I never offered up to the new place that they were giving me a second opinion. They told me there's no way they'd perform Lasik on me because of thin corneas.

thanks all for the replies. i have really bad near-sightedness and am 62. wore contacts for 40 years. went to glasses full time about 5 years ago, but hate them for outdoors i e kayaking, golf, yardwork, jogging etc...
since my eyes are so bad i'm not sure i'm a candidate

I had terrible vision (contacts were -7.5 both eyes), and my eye doctor's main recommendation was Whitsett Vision Group because of Dr. Whitsett's experience with tough cases. If you pay cash (including FSA), it's $4,000. If you opt for credit, $5,000. I'm now 20/20 at distance, which is pretty much amazing considering where I started. Even my regular eye doctor was impressed with the outcome.

I do wear readers now, which is what I asked for instead of getting one eye done for distance and the other a little different for close reading.

Whittsett is great. I also like Mann Eye. Now, one thing, the best person for you will depend on your prescription. As such, a lot of optometrists will do referral work out. I know the guys I used to work for would send people to different MDs depending on what laser they had. Different lasers are better for different types of prescriptions.

I'm not going to post publicly about it, but I do have one that I'd avoid. He botched a very good friend of my wife's surgery. If you want to know, pm me.

I had mine done at The Eye Clinic of Texas off of 45 south about 18 or so years ago. Would do it again in a heartbeat. Couldn't tell you about the group now, but at the time they were all fellows at various medical colleges, board certified and owned their own equipment. I think the doc I had do mine had done something like 3 or 4 thousand surgeries, so he was pretty well versed.

Did mine with Mann Eye Institute on Main in Midtown and daddy Mann performed the procedure. Hated contacts and glasses. One of the best decisions I've made other than Aggie football season tickets.

You can search and find other threads on this searching Lasik.

Good luck.

Forgot about them. Dr. Wade is great there.

Dr Goosey. Had mine done a few weeks ago. Still in healing process but all the staff was great. In Bellaire area. I do have 20/20 but still a little blurry. Should go away within a few weeks more time.

I went to Lasik Vision Institute over a year ago. So far, I can still see good.
