I have a family member who suffers from depression and it's to the point now I would like to recommend professional help for her treatment. Does anyone have recommendations for a therapist in the Houston area? TIA

Can you define what part of the Houston area better? If you are worried about the person resisting seeking help, and it seems as though you might be, proximity is likely to be important in them taking action on your recommendation.

Sure, she lives on the South side near League City. I think she will drive anywhere in Houston. My initial priority is finding someone good rather than distance, however I understand your concern. Open to any suggestions.

My wife battled depression after her father passsed 5 years back. She found Dr. Kimberley Kress in Sugar Land and still sees her every 6 months or so. Highly recommended.

Good luck. Having a family member battle depression sucks.

Mike Jones in Webster is very experienced with cognitive behavioral therapy. He also practices with his wife if your family member would prefer working with a woman instead.

My wife has been seeing him for years after some bad experiences with other therapists/psychologist. She has also referred many friends who see either him or his wife.

i have quite a bit of familiarity with this subject due to a depressed/suicidal daughter....i highly recommend you reach-out to The Menninger Clinic for guidance on a therapist....quite a few factors can come into play in selecting an appropriate therapist.....they can steer you in the right direction.....

They have a great counseling staff. They helped me a lot after my divorce.
