Looking for a good bowling alley for adults. I know most places now days turn the lights off and the pins glow, dont really need or want all that. Ive seen Bowl and Barrel. Any comments about that place? Looks very nice but expensive ($32 an hour to bowl...is that right). Any place inside the tollway, or near, will be doable. Thanks

Every place that is nice will be pricy, otherwise you are stuck with AMC-type places.

Is the place on Bellaire ITL still there

We've been to Bowl & Barrel, and my one complaint is the way the pins are set up. The pins are attached to strings, so you don't get the same bowling experience as a normal bowling alley since the pins don't fall as they normally would. I can't comment on price since it was a company event, but its a cool place. It looks expensive though.

Delmar is a solid place but I do think on the weekends at night they do the black lights, lasers, music, etc.

yeah I read that about the pins. Never seen that before. The place looks awesome and definitely one of a kind. Every other place Im seeing looks like either a filthy bowling alley or getting ready for a JH Dance with the lights.

There is an AMC in Stafford on 90. Not much of a hike, no frills but nice and not typically crowded.

AMC Stafford is just okay. If you have your own ball you may want to stay away from that place. The ball return leaves belt marks and has chipped a few of mine. If you are in that area, Emrald Bowl is good but very popular for leagues and can fill up quickly. The only AMC that is any good and well maintained is AMF Alpha Lanes in Webster. They are also league heavy so call ahead. Armadilla Lanes in Pasadena is also good.

If you're looking for pure bowling alley

Delmar
Copperfield
Emerald Bowl (edge of alief)

And PS, not some bowling snob (although won championship a couple of years ago), but the pins on strings place sucks.

Bowlmore was solid for my kids party but if you are looking to bowl seriously then not a good place to go. Lanes didn't have much oil and basically a rock and bowl type place

I still go to Emerald in alief near Ollie MS, and their lanes work just fine, and the beer is cheap and cold. Surprisingly the crowd is decent(ish)

And it's cheap.

Palace Lanes was hands down the best spot IMO before it closed, and delmar also good.

Copperfield is pretty good and cheap cheap cheap when we bowled on Saturdays.

Del Mar is good too, but raised their prices significantly the last year.

2nd on Emerald Bowl on Boone Road.

Mandatory "check out the prostitutes" on Bissonett first, and then bowl.

Inside the Beltway most recently I have been to Del Mar and it was a good solid bowling alley.

If you ever take a drive, Tomball Bowl is fairly nice. I think the did some remodeling recently. I haven't been in a few years but as a teenager and young adult we always went to Copperfield.

RIP Palace Lanes. Rumor has it the owner of the building wanted to raze it to build condos, but couldn't get an approved plat change with the City

add Times Square at I10 &99 to the list of good places. Times Square, Emerald, Copperfield, and Delmar are all good places for what you are looking for.

Delmar at 290 was clutch until their recent remodel and price doubling.
The story isn't that [DeSantis] "couldn't win" the primary. The story is that an overwhelming majority of our population is heinously stupid. 50% of them vote for communists. 75% of the remaining 50% vote for Trump, who cant win. I bowl Copperfield a couple of times a week. $17/hour/lane, never any problems with equipment, lanes are in good shape, beer is cold every time, and I only run into a few knuckleheads.

It's not bad, have a VIP room if you are a true playa, it's the go to for those of us in the downstream side

WOW! I can't believe that place is still open, I went there as a kid, fond memories.

Del Mar on Mangum just remodeled a lot of their interior... we liked it before, even more now if you want a nice / simple place to bowl. If you want fancy-ish, Bowl and Barrel is really nice.
