There is a group trying to save this property. It has been a camp for 65 years, should be saved.

While I support the sentiment and signed the petition, I am afraid that the rot that is going on in scouts has gotten to the point of gangrene.

Signed, but have no expectation the (Boy) Scouts of America leadership even give a damn about anything they've traditionally stood for.

Signed, but no expectation. This is standard procedure for the scouts and has been for decades. They sell off the real estate to developers and buy somewhere else for cheaper and pocket the profit to keep running. Camp Strake perfect example. Sell off Conroe acreage and start new Camp Strake in Huntsville. From a business longevity standpoint, hard to argue with this model, just sucks that it's basically all sold to developers.

Did the same thing with Hill Country Scout ranch years ago. Sold a truly excellent camp property and sent scouts to Camp swamp...aka karankawa instead. Lost alot of respect for them after that move and they have done little to earn it back.

I thought the property had already been sold.
Our scouts went there last summer and were supposed to have been one of the last groups.

The horse might already be out of the barn on that particular one.
