Cleaning out the closet. Found a bunch of old coins that were my father in law's and grandparent's. Where in town can I sell them and get a fair price and not be ripped off? I don't want to mess with eBay or craigslist

You realize you can control what you sell your coins for on ebay right? More than likely you are gonna get ripped off at the above place of business.

My dad is a huge coin collector, check out the Houston coin club for some honest pricing. Or pm me if you have a list.

You could start with a price guide book and get an idea of what he had.

What kind of coins are they specifically ?

All the coin stores in town (especially numismatic exchange, us coins, royal coins) will rip you off for sure. They will want to buy from you extremely low so they can sell ridiculously high.

The Red Book is a good guide, but it'll depend on the quality of the coin.

Something in pristine condition and really rare is the only way coins can be really worth a lot of money anyways.

Got an older, really worn down silver dollar? I need something to use as a poker marker. Low value because of condition, but kinda cool just because.

sold 'em at US Coins on Katy Frwy. They gave me more than I was expecting (I'd done some EBay research). I know they need to make a profit but I needed the convenience of not spending time selling them individually or online.

Not really. Kinda interesting that a well worn silver dollar Is worth way more that a brand new Eisenhower dollar. Lol.
