What areas/subdivisions are good for young families?

Consider drive time for work and access to your major roads. Check the school ratings and that tells you tons about your neighborhoods and their makeup. We re in Lakewood area of Cypress and love it out here.

Holly creek estates? I'm an ITLer...but there are nice houses on really nice big lots there (as seen on har.com only).

We also randomly ended up driving through waldenwood once. Really nice looking.

How much are you looking to spend?

Where will you be commuting to?

Make sure you're zoned to Tomball HS and not Tomball Memorial.

Why are you looking to move back?

We currently live on the west side of Houston. I'm unemployed at the moment so don't know where my commute will be to. We would likely move in August, price rance 250k to 350k.

do you want property or a neighborhood?

Just curious . Why , if you are not sure of your next landing spot, wanting to buy ? I would think that flexibility is very important now.

we would rent for a year first...sorry didn't clarify that.

I think we would like neighborhood first. kids playing football in the streets, neighborhood cook outs, etc

I don't have any kids but what's the deal with Tomball Memorial?

Yeah. Wtf is wrong with TMHS? It's not like we're comparing Klein HS to Klein Forrest here.

TM is likely more affluent than Tomball with Wildwood and all the new development going on there.

TMHS has Wildwood but Tomball HS has The Woodlands Creekside zoned to it. I hear both schools are good.

There aren't a lot of HS aged kids in Creekside, but this is changing. There are three elem schools that almost exclusively serve the Creekside development. They are opening a jr high this fall (fed from the three elem schools) that is expected to have 1000 students within three years. And yes, the Creekside schools are very affluent. I would expect them to change the demographics. I know that Tomball has a lot fewer kids than Tomball Memorial. I seem to recall hearing something about changing the geographic attendance zones for the high school, but I don't know details.

We live in Canyon Gate and most of those homes will likely be in your price range. We are putting my husband's house up for sale in a couple of weeks... buy it.

Yep that's the one. There are golf balls in the sidewalks in some places throughout the neighborhood.

I liked playing that course, decent for the low price you paid. Was bummed when I heard they sold out.

There is nothing wrong with TMHS and the feeder schools are all very good.

Come live by me in Inverness Estates. The builders here are finishing up their last section and trying to sell off the last remaining homes, offering tons of sales and special offerings.

Pro: beautiful quiet neighborhood, lots of young families around here. Easy access to Houston/Woodlands with grand parkway.

Cons: right by Grand Parkway (but giant wall is effective at cancelling any highway noise), high property taxes due to being Klein ISD.

My wife and I have been living here for 3 months now and love it.

On another note, anyone want to get together in the Fall to watch football? Is there a local spot around here for such gatherings?

Pine Country of Tomball checks a lot of the boxes for things you're looking for. Small neighborhood with lots of kids and neighborhood get togethers.

Have family in Woodtrace (Pinehurst). Beautiful. Pretty easy access via 249 to Grand Parkway or BW8.

La Bamba, I'm in Inverness Estates as well. Love the neighborhood, but unfortunately have to move and my house is for sale. If I am still here during football season, I enjoy going to bareback bar and icehouse to watch away games.

Land man,
If you change your mind and want to buy let me know! I am also starting to think about renting it out, but want to see how these next few months go.
