Just curious. BW8 and 59 on the north side feels pretty tall, and it got me thinking. Anyone know?

All of the I10 interchanges are the same height, whoch you can find on citydata. The 59 interchanged mentionrd above is over 60 feet higher than any other in houston.

you're saying the 59N/99 interchange is 175ft tall? because a google search says that I-10W/BW8 interchange is 115ft and was the 2nd-tallest in US as of 2010.

The tallest HIGH mast Light pole that TxDOT has in the State of Texas is 175'. I can guarantee you that the the ones at IH 10 and US 290 at the GP are 175'. I designed and signed and sealed the lighting drawings at IH 10 @ the GP and reviewed and approved the ones at US 290 @ the GP. I think TxDOT used 175' poles all along IH 10 from IH 610 to Katy when they widened it a while back.
I reviewed the remainder of the GP including the SH 249, IH 45, Hardy, and US 59 interchange lighting and none of them used high mast in excess of 175'.
I no longer work with the guy that managed these interchange designs or I would ask him and get a definite answer.

Bw8 EB to 45 N NB seems pretty high- higher than 59. It's probably one of the Grand Parkway direct connectors though because they cross several levels and there aren't any below grade crossings like at beltway and i-10.
quote:Meant to include that there is no way that these bridges are 175' above grade.quote:

Man you've got to work on your humble brag skills.

I'd imagine the lack of severe winter here also makes it more feasible for us to build taller than other states.
quote:The design of that connector absolutely is based on the future connectors.
There are the cases where we have 1 fly-over for 1 road (99 crossing 290, for example). I'm guessing the height of the 99 flyover is for future expansion, but you cannot tell me the height of that flyover was for minimum clearance of 290.
