Anyone in Houston get the Wall Street Journal?

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I just moved here - first home in Texas since I graduated from A&M. For the last five years I have had a subscription to the WSJ; over six addresses in three states I have never had a problem with delivery until now. For about a month after I got here they kept sending my paper to the last address in Maryland and for the last month there has been no paper at all. Something needs to be done and I think the last resort before I cancel my subscription is to talk/go to the local printer/distributor. I've made over a dozen calls to their customer service line; it seems quite likely to have been outsourced to another country and the CS reps are not empowered to do anything other than send a standardized complaint report to the local manager. That local manager seems to be the point of friction. I've been promised follow-up calls several times and haven't got one. Does anyone know where the local office is located, their phone number, anyone who works there, etc.?

Thanks in advance.

I've always just gotten it at the office. No issues whatsoever.

The Chronicle's delivery people throw the WSJ (at least in my neighborhood), so you might want to try them.

Would have figured you could change the address online, but if not, why not call the number you would call to cancel your subscription and explain the problem?

I thought people stopped reading newspapers once online p0rn became easily accessible.

They're probably delivering it to where you should've moved...El Paso.

Online is how I have changed the address every time so far. Calling customer service was my attempt to remediate the problem.

Big-Cat, I'll try the Chronicle and see what they say.

Logon to the WSJ and make sure your address is correct. If it is, Dow Jones has a great "did not receive my paper" help page. I've used it a few times and every time the next day I get two papers (one from yesterday and today's.

Yeah, they're really good about following up on delivery complaints.

not trying to be a dewshy millennial, honest question: why still get the physical paper?

it's already outdated by the time you read it 6-8hrs after it goes to print. Additionally, when reading on tablet or pc, the articles themselves are much richer (interactive data/graphicals, quotes, video, etc) than is possible on the pulp version.

I don't care what anyone says, but RK is by far the funniest guy on TA and it is not even close.

So far the help page is no help at all. I've sent that "I did not receive my paper" message over and over.

The tablet/pc version does have all those features, but there are still old (read: 33 years) fogies like me who still want to get our news without looking at a screen or requiring a battery charge. After watching mobile devices creep into my life and take up more of my time I'm trying to cut back on my usage thereof. The combined print/digital subscription costs less than the digital by itself anyway.

I think the paper version is easier to read, and I like the layout better than the app layout.

WSJ has the best print layout around, IMO, in addition to the best writing. It's not like having to flip from A1 to A11 in a local paper to get to the last paragraph of an AP rewrite.

If you can post your address and phone number along with your social security number I can have my cousin look into it.

I have the WSJ and have had no problem with my paper delivery and I've moved to/from different states as well. Call their main line and ask to speak to someone

They offer a service that delivers printed websites? It's like Uber for Chrome!

Reading the paper, IMHO, is a vastly superior experience to WSJ online. Theoretically, your arguments make complete sense. Practically, in my case, I rarely use the online portion or the WSJ app (even though it has vastly improved this year), although following them on Twitter helps.

I'm 32, so technically still a millennial, but the distraction-less experience of reading the physical paper is more enjoyable. And I love the layout of the paper - it's interesting and easily coherent.

Some articles are "dated", but maybe less than 10%. And the depth of the journalism makes up for the loss in time - instant news is what Twitter is for IMO.

All in all, the analog experience is simply better and more productive.

I understand all of your points and if paper + tablet was still cheaper than tablet alone, I might have opted for that for nostalgia purposes (current pricing makes you choose between paper or tablet, or pay up for both) and I too miss the halcyon days of sitting down with the paper and a big cup of coffee, turning the pages at a leisurely pace, but to illustrate my point about the benefits of the digital version:

if you were reading the paper edition this morning, the main stories were Cruz's stealth delegate hunt and Pope to issue decree on divorce. If you pulled up the WSJ on your tablet, the main story was Brussels with photos/videos and real-time updates.

I'll have to look at my last renewal statement, but I'm pretty sure I paid $150 or so for Print + Digital.
