I'm sure this was discussed a year ago but why does the Edwards Greenway theater on Weslayan not have Star Wars? I assume the owners hate money.

The owners refuse for religious reasons. No hunger games either.

Its an attempt by Regal to force/strong-arm/coerce (possibly illegally) the movie distributors to not license the films to the new iPic theater.

I don't see that tactic working out too well for Regal.

Regal can afford to miss a movie or two in that one theater. However, missing a major release will hurt iPic a lot more than it would regal.

Also it's generally in the studios best interest to give it to Edwards because of the number of seats and higher sales. But so far I think the Martian is the only major one they haven't gotten?

I don't think Regal will win the case. It seems illegally, anti-competitory to me. Also I don't think of the two as direct competitors. Very different market of movie goer I feel like.

Regal doesn't want people going to iPic.

If forced to choose, Hollywood will pick regal's multiple screens over iPic.

Regal trying to tell Hollywood that if it doesn't send movies to iPic, a movie will be shown on more total screens.

That makes me want to go to ipic just out of spite.

Their plan is long term. Not just Star Wars. They want the movie makers to pick (a) six screams at regal or (b) two screens at iPic. The more screens a movie is on, the more money the producers make

I'm not an antitrust lawyer, but it sounds bogus as hell. The allegations are that they are in cahoots with amc on this.

No because every other movie theater in town is showing the film. Plus seeing how it pulled in 500 million since its opening, I don't think Disney is hurting that Edwards did not show the film. Lose lose for GW.

I live walking distance to Edwards Greenway and have only been there a couple times. I usually make the trek over to Studio Movie Grill instead. Need to try out Sundance and iPic

I am really confused....EG is refusing to show blockbusters like Spectre, HG, and star wars to force studios not to distribute films to iPic?? How does that make sense? Those movies are sold out all over town and theaters are making money hand over fist with concessions. Why would the studio care that one theater in houston is mad that another theater is showing it a couple miles away?

We went to Edwards on i10 and silber to watch Star Wars - selected the RPX option to get assigned seats.

The new star cinema baybrook has reserved. Just saying.

Maybe before Edwards Greenway begins griping about who else gets to show movies, they need to focus on some of their own issues! Family and I were in the area a month or so ago and decided to see a movie there. Theater had such a strong odor of mildew from the carpets that it made it difficult to even enjoy the movie. That is one theater complex that will no longer be getting our business, no matter what films they may or may not be showing!

hilarious that they think they are threatened by a theater charging $28 a seat. they clearly don't understand the level of theater experience they are offering.

If you like studio movie grille you will LOVE Sundance. So much better.

Yeah, I need to check it out. I'm not crazy about the comfort of SMG's desk chairs, but love the drink service. Little easier than making sure the girl I'm with brings a big enough purse to smuggle a bottle of wine into the movie at Edwards Greenway.

Also, can't stand having to pay for parking at Greenway. One day pulled up, realized they only took cash, was a few cents short of whatever the cost was (I think $3), and lady didn't want to let me in. Only issue she had was that I couldn't back out due to traffic behind, so she "granted me access to drive to the exit across the garage." Yeah..... I just drove on up a couple floors in the garage and parked for free. So, instead of getting my $2 and change to let me park, they got nothing.

why not just go to the Alamo draft house inside the loop? oh wait...

I will be going to iPic to watch a movie just to spite Regal for this.

Checked prices and it looks like it runs $12-$18 as a member depending on if you want in-theater service or not.

I saw 2 movies at ipic last week, including Star Wars.

If you're a member, the expensive seats are only $18 or something. The experience is totally worth it. Way better than Edwards greenway.

I was completely unfamiliar with this iPic place and other than taking our older boy to see "Avengers: Age of Ultron" this past summer I can't remember the last time I saw a movie in the theater but I'm definitely going to have to hit this iPic place.

Totally worth the $$$ to avoid all the little hoodrats, parents bringing their screaming infants, and generally crappy experience these days.

Has anybody eaten at the little restaurant at the iPic here? If so, how was the food?

Reclining seats, blankets & booze?

I'd be asleep within 20 minutes.
