Need suggestions on where I can find some good ass tacos in this area? I'm not scared of taco trucks or heavily "authentic" establishments.

Shift your expectations west a bit. For my money it doesn't get any better than Taco C at N Shep and the Loop, kinfolk.

Was frequenting Taqueria La Macro on Norf Main but they closed down a couple weeks ago. The owner said they were looking at another location. Haven't heard anything about whether they have re-opened somewhere.

Taconazo right by Moody Park if you don't mid venturing that far in. Laredo Taqueria is always good. For an adventure try Matamoros.

FWIW, the best tacos(and quesadillas) in Houston can be found at Tacos Tierra Caliente next to the West Alabama Icehouse IMO. If someone knows where to find better, I'd love to know.
